I have now switched fully over to the NEW Jazzturtle.com site. This will be your one stop for all Jazzturtle info.. workshops, festivals, events, press and links to shopping- as well as my bloggy ramblings (which I promise will be MUCH more frequent). I will keep my etsy shop stocked with textile couture, handspun art yarns, felted soaps and fibers, but will also be rolling out a new bigcartel shop as well with more yarn, fiber and other goodies.

LOTS is in store for JazzTurtle this fall.... lots of festivals, teaching and even a spot in an upcoming MUCH anticipated book (more on that later...)

Coming Full Circle... Stitches South, Maryland Sheep and Wool, and Carolina Fiber Fest

Wow.. I can't believe it's been a year since the first big fiber festival I ever vended.. Carolina Fiber Fest 2010. SO MUCH has happened in the last year.. and I'm still trying to process it all.. I'm still trying to figure how how i'm going to DO IT all.. but it's all a work in progress.. balancing all the travel and inventory.. and MAKING all the inventory.. it's mindboggling, still to ME!!

Carolina fiber fest is a wonderful festival.. close to home with great friends.. but I had NO idea what I was in store for when it came to Stitches South. Sure.. a big show I was told.. I expected it with the expo setting... I spun what I thought was 'enough' yarn.. I bought some new fixtures and I was ready to go.. so I thought.. We got to Atlanta and started setting up our booth.. and realized that what I thought was a 'professional' booth had NOTHING on some of these folks.. they used gridwalls like I'd never seen before. But I was happy with my booth.. and I'm thrilled with how it continues to manifest in new festivals.. but here's the Stitches South set up..

What a wonderful show!! NEW friends.. new contacts, new new NEW!! It was just fantastic and I look forward to a long relationship with Stitches Events!!

Then less than a month later it was onto Maryland Sheep and Wool festival! I was honored to be a featured artist in the Cloverhill Yarn Shop booth! This is one of the longest running booths in festival history, and one of the most visited! It was PACKED in the booth all weekend and my yarns and fibers were very well received.

I spent the weekend bouncing between the Cloverhill booth and spending time helping my friend Lexi Boeger (Pluckyfluff) at her educational booth. We had the new Majacraft Aura spinning wheel available for trying out, as well as a Louet Classic carder out for carding. There were LOTS of yummy fibers to try for carding and spinning!

It was a wonderful booth full of things to touch and play with!! It was a blast to teach all weekend!
We had kids, adults.. men.. women!! Every shape and size person sat down at a wheel or took their try at carding..

Oh.. I didn't mention that Owen and Glynis Poad, the makers of the amazing Majacraft spinning wheels, were there as well? Oh. .well they were! They are wonderful folks, and I can't wait to get them to NC for SAFF (thinking 2012... I'm going to make it happen!!) We all had a wonderful time spinning and hanging out...

OH.. and fleeces.. DUH!! I came home with THIRTEEN fleeces.. amazing all of them.. curls and crimp.. crosses and ribbon winners! I have SO many fun fleeces to play with this summer and fall!! I can't wait to get started!!

Oh.. and speaking of ribbon winners...
I entered some yarn into the skein and garment competition and I WON.. AND I entered a couple of my triangle shawls that I wove on my loom.. and I WON!!

So after a wonderful weekend that Maryland was (we'll talk more about the goodies I came home with in another post- as well as the FANTASTIC nuno class I taught on Friday.. that also deserves it's own post) Only 10 days later was Carolina Fiber Fest 2011.. full circle.

It was a wonderful weekend.. again full of friends and local fun! I taught some wonderful classes and we were in a large new building, that brought in lots of new people!!

SO.. there was my crazy busy spring... and now I've started working on the summer and fall!! Next on the schedule is the Asheville Summer Retreat in July.. vending and teaching there.. THEN Stitches Midwest, last weekend in Aug, in Schamburg IL.. THEN a week with Lexi at her hometown workshop.. THEN home to get ready for SAFF in Oct!!

I have a few posts in the works.. had some wonderful workshops I can't wait to tell you about.. but until then.. hope your dyepots are colorful and the yarn on your wheel sparkly!! Pre Maryland Fiber Party is a GO with Funky Nunofelting!

This has really been quite an exciting week!! I'm thrilled because the 'PreMaryland Sheep and Wool Party" is happening at Seminole Sampler which is a wonderful quilt shop right next door to CloverHill Yarn Shop (In Cantonsville MD- about 25 min away from the festival) I can't wait to see the fabric and thrums that are available! I might have to bring my pocketbook so I can buy something special to embellish my felting with!

We'll be doing an extended Funky Nuno Felting workshop- giving ample time for everyone to card their own batts on the workshop carders (Louet Classic, Strauch Mad Batt'r, Louet Elite and Fancy Kitty) I will bring a large bin of fibers, novelty yarns and other goodies for you to use, as well as the needed bubble wrap, silk fabric and squirt bottle. I ask that you bring 2 towels and a pair of nylons or kneesocks you aren't going to use anymore. Also, if you have any handspun or novelty yarn scraps or textured fabric you'd like to use/bring, we'll have a large table available for 'sharing' as well.

The workshop will begin after lunch at 12:30pm and run until 4:30pm- giving us enough time to clean up before the shop closes at 5. Registration button is on the workshops page. The cost is $50 for the workshop and all included materials. (cost is slightly discounted from normal workshop price to celebrate coming together for Maryland- more money for you to spend with the vendors at the show!)

Going to MARYLAND SHEEP and WOOL FESTIVAL!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it myself! I've been floating on a cloud since I found out!! Jolene, from the wonderful Cloverhill Yarn Shop in Cantonsville, MD asked me yesterday if I would like to be one of the Independent Artists that her booth showcases at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival!
This is THE biggest sheep and wool festival in the country! I'm so excited that I have a chance to get a feel what it's like to work in a booth before I have to manage my own. Maryland is SAFF on steroids.. and so getting an idea of what I'm in for before I get my own booth is going to be a huge asset! By being featured in the CloverHill booth I'll get my foot into the door of the festival.. which is known for being one of the most difficult to acquire a booth!
I'm also excited to get to be a 'shopper' in a wool market this large!! I'm really hoping to score some yummy spring fleeces, while meeting people and just general fiber mahyem! I did promise Lexi that I would help her out in her educational booth for a couple hours one day.. so I'm looking forward to quite a weekend!!
My husband also just reminded me that Columbia MD (where my hotel is) is where Merriweather Post Pavillion is- where we saw Phish on our second wedding anniversary. We also ate that day at the MOST AMAZING restaurant- Clyde's in Columbia So not only do I get to go to Sheep and Wool, I get to eat the BEST CRABCAKES in the same weekend!!

There also may be a 'pre festival fiber party" in the way of a couple workshops the Friday before the festival!! The word on the street is the Funky Nuno Felting workshop paired with the WildCarding... I'll post more info as details solidify!!

Launch Party for Knitscene Winter/Spring Issue

How LUCKY am I that Lisa Shroyer (editor of Knitscene) and Michelle Riggs (owner of Downtown Knits
in Apex, NC) wanted to host the launch party at the wonderful space Downtown Knits offers!! Walls of colorful yarn, inspiring knit sweaters and MY YARN and wearables!! I got to have a mini trunk show along with the issue release. It was a wonderful time.. we had a full house of knitters sharing ideas and playing with yarn. It was a great night by all!!

I'm so excited!! This has been such a big deal for me and sharing it with you has been even more exhilarating! I've had 2 of my most amazing art yarns featured in KnitScene Magazine (Winter/Spring 2011) I had a wonderful shop mention (and my mother is most excited that they also mentioned my name!! Amy also gives mention to my spinning style (corespinning). The photo is just beautiful, and I have to admit I'm a bit extra geeked mine are in the middle!!

This article also had a mention in the 1/31 Knitting Daily newsletter! Knitting Daily included a mention of the shop and a link.. which brought over 400 new views to the shop that day!!

JazzTurtle Creations Batts featured in Fall issue of Spin Off Magazine!

I'm so excited because my batts are used in the current (Fall) issue of Spin Off Magazine!! Jacey Boggs wrote a great article on corespinning and she used my batts for the piece! There's some amazing photos.. AND 2 shop mentions! I'm just giddy.. and my neighbors must think I'm crazy since I started dancing around and squealing when I opened the mailbox and saw the batts in the magazine staring back at me! This is my first major press and I can't be more thrilled!! Off to card batts for the bigger than I'd originally planned shop update this weekend!!

Once Again I FAIL at blogging!!

I promise it's going to be different this time.. I know I know.. I say it every time.. and yet the entire summer has gone by without ONE post!! NOTHING!!
Ok.. I'm still here.. LOTS has been going on in my life and in my studio/fiber life!!

The Carolina fiber fest went well.. full post about that coming! It was an amazing first festival which only wet my appetite for more! Next year I'll be back.. I'm also planning on vending SAFF and maybe even YarnCon. I'm also applying for the Raleigh Handmade Market if I can get enough FO's done!

PluckyFluff Asheville.. another full post coming soon.. but briefly it was amazing, of course. Lexi is just a blast to hang out with and a great teacher! I'm hoping we get to throw back some wine and chocolate again soon!!

Teaching at SAFF- YEP!! I'm teaching my corespinning class this year at SAFF 2010! I'm so excited because this is the biggest venue I've taught at and my class was the THIRD of all the classes to fill up! I only got on the waiting list to vend since I didn't really think I would even try vending this year.. since I've never even ATTENDED *gasp* I know!! But I did so well at the at CFF that I figured I would go for it- As I'm still on the waiting list, I think I'm just going to plan on teaching this year (and I'll have batts for sale in the class) and then next year I'll be vending!

I'm having a TRUNK SHOW!! You heard right.. Friday night, Oct 15th, from 6:30-9:30 join me at DownTown Knits in Apex NC for wine, snacks and and evening of FiberyFUN! More details to follow..

LOTS of new stuff is happening over in the shop!- which is it's own blogpost as well!!
The fall season is upon is and the first batch of Halloween batts are listing today! More will come over the next month including yarns, out of the bag fiber kits and indulgence tops!

Teaching and Vending at the Carolina Fiber Fest, May 21-23!!

YEP!! I told you folks that the announcement was coming soon!! JazzTurtle Creations will have a vending booth ALL weekend at the Carolina Fiber Fest, May 21-23 at the Raleigh State Fairgrounds.
Not only THAT.. but I'll be TEACHING my 3 hr "Creative Corespinning" workshop- Friday morning (either 9-12 or 10-1, not sure yet) I'll post a link when registration is open. Class is $65 and includes a spinning kit.

Creative Corespinning:
Why corespin? If you want to learn a technique get the most out of precious fiber (like cashmere) or learn how to get the most texture and create funky art yarns, then corespinning is for you!
First we’ll learn how to corespin, with proper attention to achieving a balanced yarn. Then focus will shift to experimenting with different corespinning techniques- corespinning with locks, coreless corespinning and adding “fun stuff” into your yarns like felted nubbies, sequins, fabric, cocoons and other things you may bring. Translucent corespinning and carding textured art batts will also be demonstrated. Class fee includes kit with core yarn, 3oz textured batt, 1oz loose locks and fun add-in’s. Additional supply details will be sent with registration confirmation. Participants must bring a wheel and be able to spin a single. Class limited to first 16 registered students.

I will ALSO be doing free art batt carding and art yarn spinning demo's on Sunday afternoon!! If you're in the area please stop by and say hello.. and do some shopping while you're visiting!

A tour of my studio-where the carding magic happens!

Welcome!! This is what you see when you pass my studio. I've had a couple requests for a virtual "tour" so I thought I'd invite you inside and show you around. I did a bit of spring cleaning and organizing this weekend, so I thought it'd be a perfect time! You see my bin of treasure fiber is open and ready to collect leftover carding fiber. I also have a basket out with add in's I'm currently putting in batts and yarns.

When you walk in you are greeted with my shelving unit of add in's and sparkle. Installing this above the desk and carding table is what really turned this room into a "studio" Previously it was all in "bins" that I would dump on the floor when I was working. There were 2 main problems with that.. first I couldn't see everything I had.. and if I don't see it, I forget it's there and don't use it! Most importantly is that I had to bend over and stand up again and again and again when reaching for goodies like sparkle and sari silk.. and I gave myself some vertigo by continued bending over and standing up.. I couldn't work for over a week. So installing this unit was a lifesaver. Everything I need is within reach and in sight!

Top shelf is a bin of hand dyed merino top odds and ends, a bin of treasure fiber leftover from projects and a small bin of add in's like silk flowers, pom poms, crocheted flowers, buttons..
The middle shelf holds a small bin of novelty yarn snippets, another small bin of my sari silk stash (yarn, thrums, recycled tangles, ribbon and pulled waste) The middle big bin is full of fabric strips and silk for spinning and adding into batts. The bottom shelves hold my bins of lurex and silk thread, 3 colors of holosparkle lurex, and sequins (behind the holosparkle), my basket of hemp noil in rainbow colors, my bowl of felted nubbies and pebbles and my NEW set of 3 drawer units for my smaller add in's like shredded money, neps, silk cocoons, worry dolls, buttons, fabric flowers. These were previously in a basket and just getting lost! I feel SO much more organized now that I can easily (and quickly) get what I need!
To the left of the desk you see my bookshelf with my smoothie carder on top (next to the drum I got in Cairo), my craft books and magazines, old textbooks and reference books from college and massage school, and on the top shelf baskets and bins with scrapbooking stickers, beads, sequins and crystals.

In the drawers above the carding station are:
angelina and lurex drawer.. every girl LOVES her sparkle drawer!!

Then above that it's my noils and banana silk drawer. A rainbow of silk, bamboo and cotton noils, along with tangled strands of brightly colored banana silk fill this drawer. Above that is another sparkle drawer.. this one is filled with firestar and icicle nylon sparkle. Again, a rainbow of fibers! The top drawer has vintage trim and lace, some silk snippets and other things for carding into batts and spinning into yarn. In between the drawers I have bags of brightly dyed curly kid mohair locks for adding into batts.

Next to the carding station I have my wire rack of farm wools and fleece. These are mostly solid or semi solid fibers from animal friendly farms. I mostly card this fiber, but I also spin some without carding..
The bottom shelf is filled with bins of fiber, and the top shelf is my sewing machine, serger and other quilting supplies.

I use over the door shoeracks for holding my rainbow of kid mohair locks and some wrapping/plying yarns. No space is unused.. including on the wall and behind the doors!

In the closet is my scrapbooking supplies.

My fiber wall.. my home LYS.. my pride and joy. I often sit on the floor and plan yarns by staring up at all the colors and textures.. I often hang yarns I've finished to inspire me.
This wall is made up of wire cubbies. The bottom cubbies are filled with top I use for carding. The top cubbies are shop inventory (except the last 2 are combed top spinning stash) The left side cubbies are all uncarded locks and fleece I plan to spin uncarded. This is also the cubbies I have my bamboo rayon designated for spinning not carding. The rest is all spinning stash. Mostly batts, some combed top and clouds. Some is created by me.. LOTS is from other independent artists like myself. I admit, as much as I love spinning my own fiber, I love to spin other people's as well. We all have a different carding style, so it's fun to play with other techniques. It is crazy though, I've collected this stash over my 3 years spinning.. I don't buy as much as I used to.. but there are still weeks when the mail comes heavy to my house!!

Teaching in South Carlolina- The Carolina Fiber Frolic!

Where have I been the last month?

Well.. Getting ready to vend my first spinning retreat and teach a couple workshops!! It was really overwhelming getting it all together. I learned a lot about what to do for my NEXT vending!! (maybe at the Carolina Fiber Fest at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh at the end of May.. but more about that later!) I had to build inventory for vending (Whew.. carding over 40 new batts!!)

Bryan and I loaded up the car with fiber, yarn and my wheel..

He was amazed I fit it all in.. but I learned how to pack from my Mother.. she's the best there is.

Off we went to the Middleton Place Inn and Plantation, just outside Charleston SC. I was really excited because I've never been there.
We arrived in time to unload and then had the evening to play. Wow.. what a place!! The plantation is from the mid 1700's and has the oldest landscaped gardens in America. We stayed in the inn.. that had beautiful rooms! The wall facing the river was all windows..
And it had a wood burning fireplace!!

And even MORE fun.. it had a 150 GALLON garden tub!! It was like a mini pool!!

It was really beautiful!! We were on the second floor so our view was like we were in a treehouse..

In the evenings the Lodge hosted some appetizers, wine and beer.. so we stopped by there before going into Charleston for dinner-
The walk from our room to the lodge was breathtaking!!

We ate both free nights at Hyman's Seafood House in Charleston. (they are open until 11pm.. and we didn't get out of the Inn until past 10 each night.. and the food was STILL amazing!!) OMG.. the shecrab soup.. and the crispy fresh flounder.. and the mussels.. oh the mussels!!

The next morning we set up my booth.. It looked great.. except I forgot my sign! Can you believe it! LOL!!
I loved having the laptop there!! There was wifi so people could pay with paypal, and I had a looping slideshow running of photos of previous batts and yarns!
The garmet rack was SO useful for hanging shawls, cloudspun yarn and specialty art yarn sets!
BATTS galore! These cubbies are a PITA to put together and take apart.. but they were really useful and made the booth look great!! I'd like to have one more set for more batts for future shows.

Ta Da!! Everything looked great!!

I taught my workshops on Friday!! My first was a 3 hour workshop called "Creative Corespinning" where I taught the basic corespinning technique, with focus on spinning a balanced yarn. I taught how to add in objects while spinning.. flowers, sequins, cocoons, beehives.. all sorts of goodies!! The second was an hour and a half workshop "Unwinding with Coils" teaching supercoiling and other art yarn plying tricks!! It was SUPER fun and everyone picked up the skills really quickly!! I felt like a proud parent!

Bryan and I also took some time to walk around the gardens. It really is an amazing place..The Middleton house after the main house was destroyed in the Civil War, and the original springhouse.
Spanish Moss swaying from all the trees so peacefully. I'm totally inspired to spin a yarn!
Amazing Camila blooms in the landscaped gardens.
H U G E trees.. from the 1700's!! So different than the Huge redwoods of Cali.

These were MONSTERS! The trunk was over twice Bryan's arm span.

We FOUND the hidden Dharma Initiative Gardens!! LOL!! You know how into LOST! we are.. so when we saw there was an octagonal garden.. we knew it was a sign!! LOL!!

All in all it was amazing weekend!! I made new friends, got a couple invitations to teach more workshops, scheduled some private lessons sold some fiber and MOST importantly made some alpaca and mohair locks connections with some local farms!! HURRAH!! AND even more importantly my hubby and I got to get away for the weekend and have some relaxing fun!!

6x03- What Kate Does- Weekly LOST blogtakeover!

It was a good episode last night. Not in my top 10, but I enjoyed it. I think more questions were raised than answers received.. but that's LOST right? all the way to the end!!

It's pretty HUGE that the date on Claire's ultrasound is one month later.

This really brings up some interesting ideas... First of all, Claire goes into labor around the same time on island as she does in the sideways flash... so the timeline is accurate. ETHAN is off island here.. yet still a doctor. Here he tells her that he doesn't want to stick her with needles (just like he DID on the island) What about Ethan!! He's the son of Horace and Amy.. and Amy had been married to another man on the island, who was killed (paul, I think) before Sawyer (as LaFleur) made the truce. SO does this mean that Horace and Amy STILL get together somehow in the sideways reality? This opens up HUGE possibilities for our Losties to cross paths with the Others off Island in the sideways reality.. reinforcing that fate is just that.. and if you are meant to meet someone you will.. regardless of the situations..
Also.. what happened in the month between the original flight on 9-22 and the sideways reality flight on 10-22? Shannon reconciles with her boyfriend, John goes on the walkabout, Hurley is being lucky I guess? Who knows how much has "changed"

MALKIN was the PSYCHIC...
In the original timeline, Malkin sent Claire on the plane, knowing it would crash on the island and she would have to raise Aaron. In this alt. universe, Malkin put Claire on the plane knowing the couple in LA would split up and again, she would have to raise Aaron.
Looks like even in the sideways reality Claire raising Aaron is important.

Lots of the "deja vu" moments last night.. Claire calls the baby Aaron!! Kate has one when she sees Jack waiting for the taxi, she has one when she pulls out the same whale stuffed animal, she has one when she hears Claire call the baby Aaron.

CLAIRE!!! whoo hoo Claire!! OK.. so how does Dogen KNOW that Claire is Jack's sister? Does Christian tell him somehow? Claire seems to be the "new" Roussau! She's setting traps and using that rifle! It seemed the Others (Aldo and what's his name) knew they weren't Roussau's traps.. were they not "looking" for Claire because they know she's "infected" Will Sawyer and Kate get "infected" if they aren't in the temple (is that what the ash protects against?) We saw Roussau's team get "infected" when they went into the tunnel beneath the temple and we saw Smokey.. so we assume that Smokey causes the sickness..
SO MAYBE.. when a person dies-Smokey can manifest as that person entirely-
BUT when a person is NEAR death... like Claire was when the house exploded and fell on her, and like Sayid was when he was shot and bleeding.. then Smokey "infects" the person.. rather than manifesting as them. Not sure why Smokey wouldn't just wait until they'd totally died and just manifest completely.. so there has to be some difference to what happened to John Lock v fLocke and the infections of Sayid and Claire

In the same vein as the "infections" It seems as though Miles was looking at Sayid strangely.. almost like he knew something was different. Same when Sawyer pulled Claire out of the explosion. She says something like "I'm just woozy, I'll be ok" and Miles responds with something like "that's what you think" .. I think miles knows more than he realizes.

Will the REAL John Locke appear to Hurley or talk to Miles at all?

Interesting that there was an episode in season 2 called "What Kate Did", and this episode was called "What Kate Does". I think it's playing on the two different timelines going on... as well as reinforcing that the sideways reality is happening at the same time as the island reality.

I've got to start dinner, but I'm still chewing on it all a bit..

Tricks and Techiques- DRUM CARDING!!

So I've gotten LOTS of questions on how I card my batts.. mostly HOW do I fit as much fiber onto my drum as I do.. to get those HUGE batts!!
So this weekend I did a short technique demo on carding layers with my louet carder.

For me, carding is about layers.. it's like painting the fiber onto the drum. Even when I do more than 1 of the "same" batt or when I "encore" batts (recreate previously carded batts) they are always unique- because I can never "paint" the fiber exactly the same way. I may use the same fibers... in the same colors.. but they will always be placed slightly different on the drum.

PLEASE no teasing on my sweatpants and "IL" trucker hat.. It was Sunday morning! LOL!!! I am proudly wearing my "daily dose of fiber" ravelry shirt! YAY ravelry!

I've gotten some questions on how to "process" a batt for spinning.. so I'll do a few quickie demo's on pulling roving from a batt this weekend (without using a diz). I'll try to get one using diz as well if I have time!

My next technique video will be (core)spinning with locks. I hope to have that up early next month!!

WOW!! Feels GREAT to be back on track!! WHAT an episode last night!!

Did you notice in the title.. there's a space between A and X..
It's LA X rather than LAX.
This obviously means SOMETHING... could the X represent the number 10.. Desmond, Jack, Rose, Bernard, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayid, Charlie, John- But there were MORE of our characters on the flight.. Cindy, Frogurt, Ernst, Boone were all there too!! Could (as another of my friends pointed out) the X stand for the "sideways/alternate" reality? As in.. This isn't LA.. but LA X? I'm not sure what it means.. but it's there for a reason!!

Ok.. so the BIGGEST "answer" we got last night was about our good friend SMOKEY!! So... Smokey IS the Man in Black AND is FakeJohn!!! Smokey has been manifesting as all of these different people(things) to try and manipulate the people on the island. Could the man in black be FATE and Jacob be FREE WILL? Remember the scene on the beach.. The man in black says "they bring corruption.... it always ends the same" and Jacob says "it only needs to end once, the rest is progress" Jacob keeps bringing people to the island that he thinks will right something that has always been wrong.. and he Man in Black(Smokey) is always able to manipulate them with flashes of their past to get them. I thought it was great when ben said "so YOU"RE the monster" and FLocke said "let's not resort to name calling" LOL!! And he says he want's to go HOME!! Where's HOME?!?

The ASH!! Do you remember the ash ring around the cabin?! So obviously the ash protects the person from Smokey/FakeJohn/ManInBlack. The ring of ash was BROKEN when we found the cabin.. so I think that the entire time we thought we were communicating with "Jacob" it's really been the Man In Black.. It wasn't Jacob that asked John for Help.. it was Smokey. Smokey has been trying to find someone that the "others" would trust.. that he can manifest as and gain control of the Island. Jacob visited all the people that he brought to the island to get them there.. because HE thought they could stand up to Smokey and not be manipulated.. The question I have is.. if TheManinBlack/Smokey can't kill Jacob (he needed to manipulate ben to do it) then WHY would Jacob need an ashring around the cabin to protect him? Could the ash ring have been there to keep MiB INSIDE the cabin? OR was it someone else's cabin? At this point.. since Christian Shepard was instructing John on what to do.. I think we should assume that it was MiB/Smokey that was manifesting as Christian.. setting the plan in motion to manipulate john and ben.. I don't think we've MiB/Smokey manifest as anyone who's still living.. So he had to get everything "right" to create a plan to have the others trust a lostie (John) as their leader.. then get Ben to kill that person, so he (MiB) can manifest and take over leadership of the Others. Jacob's last words were "They are Coming". WHO's coming... The way it was filmed in that it was proceeded by the aftermath of the Swan battle and Juliet's (supposed) detonation of the bomb, I'm convinced that Jacob was referring to the six returning Losties in time: Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Jin, and Sayid. Especially considering the theme of the season 5 finale flashbacks was Jacob visiting these very characters at various periods in time. He was preparing himself just as the MiBwas maneuvering his loophole, and these characters in particular are key to defeating him. Jacob in his last breaths was sending the Man in Black a message: that he had not won yet.

SO when FJohn/MiB/Smokey came out from the Statue.. Richard says "DON"T SHOOT" is it because he knows he's Smokey? I do think he knows Jacob is dead, because the "other" Others set off the flare.. which I think was a warning!! I think that meant that Smokey was in control because they were all putting out the Ash and buckling down the temple in anticipation of Smokey trying to get in. So if he know that FakeJohn was being controlled by Smokey.. why did he looks so shocked, and said "YOU?!" when FJohn/MiB/Smokey mentions Richard's "chains" Could he be referring to LITERAL chains.. as in Richard came to the island on the Black Rock IN chains.. OR could he have been the captain of the boat and had people in chains.. and Jacob gave him a chance to redeem himself.. OR could the chains have been figurative.. as in FJohn/MiB/Smokey is saying "I killed your master" so you are no longer chained to him. is this the first time Richard has seen Smokey in "manifestation of a dead person" form? Could he really NOT have known that FJohn was Smokey.. and the reason he didn't want them to shoot was because he didn't know who he was.. can Jacob take form of the dead?

SO has Jacob been ALIVE on the island the entire time.. as in a "real" person.. since he tells hurly he "died a few hours ago" But Smokey/MiB doesn't seem like a "real" person.. the way he can manifest into the dead and the smoke monster... But if Jacob's been "alive" the ENTIRE history of the island (WAY too long to actually be "alive") they HOW was did he actually die?

The Temple and the "other" others!! We see Cindy with the Kids!! They were TAKEN way back!! Who is this Japanese man? The water obviously has healing powers (this is probably what saved Ben when Sayid shot him. When Richard takes Ben he tells Kate and Sawyer that he won't be the same.. he'll be one of them.. Does this mean Sayid is going to somehow "change") It seems as though it's the first time they've seen it "unclear".. as the hippieguy said "what happened to the water" Also, our Japanese friend cut himself and the water didn't heal the wound.. so if they knew something was wrong.. why did they go ahead and put Sayid in... and then HOW does Sayid die.. but come back? COULD IT BE JACOB in Sayid? Has the island lost it's healing powers now that Jacob is "dead"? Doesn't that water look an awful lot like what ben "flushed" to summon smokey to get him to kill the mercenaries?
Cindy also says they were with the "first" plane (referring to jack and crew) so these other others also know of the SECOND plane that landed (the ajera plane) I think there is a big clue in the architecture. The Temple was quite clearly Mayan / Aztec in influence, but with Egyptian overtones to the interior. Could the island be the birthplace of civilization- Atlantis (which by legend sunk) We now have direct island connections with the Phoenicians (Tunisia), Mayans (Temple), Romans (Latin) and Egyptians (Statue).

What an interesting progression that is.. from the first episode of the series to last night- Is this an alternate reality/dimension? Hubby and I think it looks as though Jack has aged a bit.. and he had some cuts/bruises he didn't have before (or even seem to KNOW he had!!) Cindy (flight attendant) gives Jack ONE bottle of Vodka, rather than the 2 she gave him in the pilot episode. In the pilot episode, Jack is the one comforting Rose.. and last night it was the opposite!! Also.. DESMOND!! WTF is desmond doing there?!? In "real" time he was ON the ISLAND at this point.. pushing the button. Is there NO Penny in this timeline.. or is he meeting Penny in LA? Jack did look as though he remembers Des.. is it from meeting him while running.. or is it from the Island? Desmond's words "See you in another life Brother" takes on an ENTIRELY new meaning now!!!!! Did Des disappear from the plane.. with Christian's coffin? What about Widmore.. if the island is under water (how cool was that cgi) then where are "the others" or whomever? If in this timeline the island blew up and sunk.. then is widmore and ellie dead? So there are NO penny and daniel? How about that cgi.. we saw the old dharma shark, the statue and the entire island under water!!

Is that the result of the bomb explosion? When Juliet said "it worked" how did she KNOW it worked? It seems as though the bomb going off brought the 2 island timelines together (there is no longer 1977, just 2007). We saw this was true when the Temple others shot off the warning flare to Richard and crew.. BUT did the bomb going off somehow break off this alternate timeline...
There's a GREAT EW.com interview with Cuse and Lindleof (Full Interview) They say that there are 2 realities.. our reality and a "sideways" one. LINDELOF: Right out of the gate, in the first five minutes of the premiere, you get hit over the head with two things that you’re not expecting. The first is that Desmond is on the plane. The second thing that we do is we drop out of the plane and we go below the water and we see that the Island is submerged. What we’re trying to do there is basically say to you, “God bless the survivors of Oceanic 815, because they’re so self-centered, they thought the only effect [of detonating the bomb] was going to be that their plane never crashes.” But they don’t stop to think, “If we do this in 1977, what else is going to affected by this?” So that their entire lives can be changed radically. In fact, it would appear that they’ve sunken the Island. That’s our way of saying, “Keep your eyes peeled for the differences that you’re not expecting.” Some of these characters were still in Australia, but some weren’t. Shannon’s not there. Boone actually says that he tried to get her back. There are all sorts of other people that we don’t see. Where’s Libby? Where’s Ana Lucia? Where’s Eko? These are all the things that you’re supposed to be thinking about. When our characters posited the “What if?” scenario, they neglected to think about what the other effects of potentially changing time might be and we’re embracing those things.

SO now the comic-con video of Kate Austen on America's Most Wanted makes sense!!

In THIS story (in this alternate/sideways reality).. Kate doesn't kill her stepfather, but his APPRENTICE!! So the blowing up of the bomb has FAR more impact than just not crashing the plane!!! It reaches OFF island as well!! Again, does Penny and Daniel even EXIST?

A couple "easter eggs"":
The book Desmond was reading on the plane was Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie.
Wiki states :
"Haroun and the Sea of Stories is a 1990 children's book[1] by Salman Rushdie. It was Rushdie's first novel after The Satanic Verses. It is a phantasmagorical story set in a city so old and ruinous that it has forgotten its name.[2]"
The book includes the following things:
- an ancient city so old that people forgot it existed
- a war between the rulers of that ancient city
- a main character who is represented by two sides of himself: an "anthropomorphic shadow" and a "diminished man"

The book in the Temple next to the skeleton is as someone already said, Fear and Trembling by Kierkegaard. The title comes from Philippians 2:12 and probably has a connection to everyone's journey after Jacob has been killed.
"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling." In Fear and Trembling Kierkegaard introduces the "Knight of Faith" and contrasts him with the "knight of infinite resignation". The latter gives up everything in return for the infinite, that which he may receive after this life, and continuously dwells with the pain of his loss. The former, however, not only relinquishes everything, but also trusts that he will receive it all back, his trust based on the "strength of the absurd".

Welcome the New Year.. In Feb?!

Wow.. not only is it the new year.. but it's FEB already!! I'm not sure how that month slipped thru my fingers!! What a year 2009 was!!
As some of you know my husband was laid off in Dec of 2008, just a few months after we were married.. so it was a hard year. I am, however, very positive, and we make the best with what we have. Our situation could be SO much worse.. so I have a lot to be thankful for!!

SO much happened for my fiber art in 2009-
-I got my lendrum spinning wheel and my art yarns EXPLODED in size and texture
-I took Lexi Boeger's art yarn workshop (and got to hang out with her for the weekend) and my art yarns EXPLODED even MORE with mastered techniques
-I got not one, but TWO drum carders (for smoothie and textured batts) to expand my fiber art into carding as well as spinning
-I reached 800 sales in my etsy shop!
-I started weaving

I expect LOTS of exciting fibery stuff to come in 2010-
-I plan to put up more technique demo's to help spread the love of art yarn spinning
-I'm now teaching lessons and leading workshops!! Come to my first group workshops at the Carolina Fiber Frolic Feb 25-27 Info Here
-I plan to continue to create NEW spinning and carding techniques to share
-I'm going to be selling Wearable Fiber Art- Mostly woven (some knit) pieces that One of a Kind
-I'm working on "collections" for the fiber and yarn.. to make my shop flow
-I hope to branch out.. to work more craft shows and maybe you'll see JazzTurtle Creations at your LYS.

As I approach 900 sales in the shop (2 to go!!) I can't thank everyone enough to helped me get here!! Your support and encouragement has made a tough year much easier!!

How do I do it? Coreless Corespinning and Crazy Wrapping. Techniques & Tricks

Here's the second article in my "How do I do it?" technique series. I started with "regular" corespinning so you could get the feel of corespinning, and wrapping the fiber around a core. Once you've gotten that down you can move onto some other corespinning techniques.

One of my favorites is corespinning the fiber onto itself- or coreless corespinning!! It's super cool and once this is mastered, then doing cocoons is SUPER easy.. since it's basically the same thing in just one place.. In this video I also demonstrate crazy wrapping with thread. This is a textural element that is super fun and easy to incorporate into any yarn.

Here's a pic of the final yarn. You can see how light and fluffy it is. The pic was taken before the twist was set, but it'll do :)

I've had LOTS of people ask me to give some tricks and tips for some of my art yarn techniques. So, at least once a month I'm going to post a video demonstration of a different technique. Please feel free to give me some suggestions on what technique's you'd like me to show.

I've gotten the most requests for corespinning.. so here we go as our first in the How do I do it? series- Corespinning the In's and Out's!

First of all it's important to have all of your supplies ready and at your fingertips-

After you are prepped and ready to go.. you have to attach the core to your yarn before you can begin wrapping the fiber. This clip shows how to attach your core, and begin corespinning. I explain where to pinch- so you DO NOT build up too much twist. That's the biggest problem I hear from people, is that their corespun yarns are totally overspun. If you try to pinch to the side of the core, rather than onto it, it should help take care of that overspinning.

In this third part, I show you how to spin sequins strands securely into your corespun yarns. I also talk about how to prep them for spinning.

Next we come to almost the end of my yarn and I want to spin in an add in that's too large to fit thru the orifice. I show the trick I've come up with to bypass the orifice- by spinning in the dangly ornament BEHIND the oriface- so it can wind right onto the bobbin! It's pretty cool!!

Finally, I show how to end your corespun yarn, so that the core is secure inside the yarn and you don't have to worry about the fiber unwrapping from the core.

It's Art Yarn- Let it Go; Camp PluckyFluff Chicago 2009

Well, I'll start my "What did I do this summer" series of blog posts with the MOST amazing weekend ever!!! I was SO lucky to be the host of the first Chicago Camp PluckyFluff with Lexi Boeger, the author of Intertwined, the Art of Handspun Yarn. This weekend includes 2 days of intense art yarn spinning and crazy carding! It's also a wonderful chance to meet other spinners and fiber artists!!

I picked up Lexi on Friday afternoon and we had a book signing at our workshop local, the amazing Loopy Yarns, at the old Dearborn Station in Chicago's downtown.

It was a wonderful evening of wine and snacks and meeting some spinners I had only known over the interweb!!

After the signing, Lexi and I went to see some good friends of mine that happened to be playing at my favorite jazz bar, The Green Mill. This was really kizmit as I spent SOOOO many nights at the Mill when I lived in Chicago (one of the city's most well known, and oldest jazz bars... once owned by Al Capone's crew), as well as the band that was playing was the group I was on the road with when I met my now husband. I hadn't seen them play in over a year.. and they just "happened" to be in the City and playing that night! Lexi and I were able to skip the line (thanks to the awesome guest list +1) and just mosey into the bar! It was a great evening of jazz and whiskey! Lexi and I hung out for as long as possible.. and then back to the hotel to rest up for the next day's spinning extravaganza.

Sat started with a tour of the "sharing" area. It's SO amazing how generous people can be!! All of our spinners (we had 16 people of ALL ages!!) brought stuff to share!!

And that's just the FIBER/Carding area!! I didn't even get a shot of the "add in's" table which had plying yarns, ribbons, fabric, feathers, bells and anything else you could imagine!!
We were really blessed with an incredible group of spinners! We had all types of spinners as well.. from folks like me who spin primarily art yarns, to some who were just dipping their feet into the art yarn pool.. to our youngest member, a 13y/o boy who'd started spinning because he liked the yarns he saw in his Grandma's magazines.

SO.. first we spent some time in the carding area, where Lexi demo'd her "crazy carding" where she put "fiber sandwichs" thru the carder for super textured batts!!

We started with spinning our new crazy carded batts.. and just letting the fiber be spun as it wants. For me, this is the way I always spin.. lumpy, bumpy- just let it happen. For some, though, this was very difficult. Letting not evening out the slubs or neps.. we came up with our weekend Mantra- It's Art Yarn- Let it Go! Lexi also demo'd adding things into a single like sequins, fabric, feathers and other goodies.

The rest of the day we spent like the beginning- spinning and spinning and spinning!
It was so wonderful to finally sit and spin with my ravelry/etsy internet friends Jenna (Pumpknpunk) and Mary (butterflygirl)

We did thread plying techiniques like grannystacks, coils and beehives. We added cocoons and plied them into halo's. My cocoons were firestar and angelina.. sparklelicous!!

At the end of the first day the floor looked like a sparkle fairy had visited us all!

That night we went and had a wonderful dinner at a local joint.. and then it happened to be Venetian night in the City and Lexi had a hotel room that looked right over the lake.. right where they shot off the fireworks.. so we were able to enjoy a post dinner show! It was quite wonderful!

Day 2 was spent as day 1.. spinning, carding and just creating!

These were the techniques I really wanted to master- corespinning without a core, translucent mohairy, extreme tailspinning and Lexi's most difficult, aura. it was a wonderful day and I got to master all 3!

It was an amazing weekend! I spun 8 yarns.. mastered difficult techniques I'd been working on for awhile.. spun with new girlfriends and just had a totally creative weekend!

I can't wait until April when I bring Lexi down here to North Carolina and I do it all again!!

But I PROMISE that for the rest of the year, I'm going to be BETTER!! I can't believe it's already Nov 1!! The entire summer is gone.. and I haven't even told you about what I did!!
I'll break it up into a few posts tonight, so it doesn't get too overwhelming.. for me that is, not you!! LOL!!

Tour De Fleece Progress- Day 3-8

So I am still on my target goal, of completing at least one yarn a day.. though I have slipped a bit in blogging about my progress daily!
Day 3
I carded up a couple amazing batts of assorted blue fleece (targhee, cormo, corridale, merino), a touch of merino top and a TON of rainbow kid mohair locks and blue angelina..
Then I corespun it.. and the yarn is just fabu!! It has such texture! I just love it!

I also corespun some beautiful kid mohair locks "mohairy"- translucent over the novelty yarn, with spots tailspun. I love how it turned out!

Day 4
I spun some light worsted soft spun singles of merino/seacell from EGMTK. I added some extra purple and gold angelina..

Day 5
I spun a BUNCH of supercoils which were destined for necklaces..

I also spun some slubby wool destined for necklaces..

Day 6
I corespun a batt of assorted fibers!! Super texture and YUMMY!!

Day 7
I spun up 3 oz of "rough cut diamond" enchanted knoll batts and plied it with silver thread and 12 swvorwski crystals. (plied pics coming later)

Day 8
I started some BEAUTIFUL AllSpunUp merino/silk bamboo. Going for light sport weight soft spun singles

So today.. Day 9
I'm putting away the AllSpunUp to finish later today, and am switching to a corespun atomicblue batt, with an iridescent autowrap. Photos and progress post later tonight. I'm also carding batts today for a shop update. Lots of handspun yarn and a few new batts going up!

I'm so excited to be offering some new products in the shop!!

The first is the YUMMIEST handmade cold press soap, by local soapmaker (and fellow ACETeam member) TGurleyBathAndBody Tracey makes the most amazing vegan soaps with pure essential oils. These are big bars! Each one is approx 5oz! I take her wonderful soap and felt soft merino sweaters around the outside!!
Why use felted soap? Well the felted sweater gives you a built in washcloth!! It enhances the lather and gently exfoliates. The felt makes your soap last twice as long and you use every last bit as the felt will shrink as the soap gets smaller!! (This is very important when you are using delicious handmade soaps like these!!) Once the soap is gone use the felt as a scrubbie or put it in a drawer to give your clothes a yummy scent.

There's lots of new scents planned.. Chai spice is coming, as well as a holiday scent. There will be make your own felt kits, as well as mini felted soaps, 1/2 the size of the ones up now, so you can mix and match scents. I can make custom soaps to match any decor! Tour De Fleece Day 2

Today was a fiber filled day.. except I only finished one yarn from start to end! How did I have a fiber day then? BATTS!! I carded another 8 batts for the shop which totaled 12 total that went up today!! Whoo HOO!!
There are some beauties! I really went with luxury today.. adding lots of angora, cashmere and silk!!

I did finish the targhee/finn corespun fleece with angelina and glitterati. My Sunshine Day yarn!!

I also finished a beautiful corespun with a fun textured batt in earthy tones with pops of color, my Forest Floor yarn.

So for my next yarns... probably spun tomorrow (since I can't stay up until 3am again tonight!! LOL!) I'm going to play with some of the yummy kid mohair!! I carded up a version of the shop Mermaid Garden batts, with lots of blue fleeces-cormo, targhee, corridale, cotswold, alpaca.. and lots of rainbow kid mohair locks.. and TONS of blue angelina (of course)

I'm also going to do a 'mohairy' yarn over novelty yarn, with tailspun bits. I carded up some kid mohair locks into a textured cloud with angelina.. and then I have some full locks

Tour De Fleece- Day ONE!!

AND WE BEGIN!! I'm so excited to be participating this year!! Last year I was in the midst of painting our house, and packing up the rental house and just couldn't spin as much as I wanted to.. but THIS year.. My goal is to spin at least one yarn a day.. and blog about it each day! We'll see how far I get.. but day one took me off and running!!
I had a fantastic setup.. with my wheel... the TV and my wonderful hubby brought the laptop in the living room.. so I could even play on the computer and watch the Tour thread on Ravelry

I started with some beautiful batts that are always available in my shop called "Purity" These are smoothie batts with added bits of texture. Beautiful luxury fibers include merino, bamboo, cashmere, silk, tencel, novelty yarn snippets, sparkle and banana silk. I had a custom order to spin these into some worsted singles and it was a pleasure to spin. I just LOVE cashmere!!

Next I moved onto an art yarn that has been screaming for me to make it a reality. My tribute to Michael Jackson art yarn.. King of Pop.
I corespun black and white alpaca with red white and black kid mohair locks, red and carbonized bamboo, red and black silk fabric, red sari silk, red white gold silver and black sequins and TONS of bling!

I was having a great time spinning and watching the tour! It's rare I get an entire Saturday off.. I really wanted to make the most of it!

After I finished King of Pop I had to spin up the new Ewe Give Me the Knits Bfl/Silk that came earlier this week. I went for sport weight singles, and added 2 shades of red and gold angelina for sparkle..

So here's the 3 yarns I finished today.. It's almost a lb of spinning!!
6+ oz purity, 4 oz bfl/silk and 6 or so oz King of Pop!

I've started yarn 4- I guess it's yarn 1 of day 2 since I began spinning it after midnight. It's corespun targhee/finn fleece with angelina and glitterati

I managed to card up 5 new batts for the shop update tomorrow.. hopefully I'll get another 4 carded in the morning to join them..

It was a good day!! I'm going to do a bit more spinning then hit the sack! Tomorrow more fiber fun with carding, spinning and a HUGE update in the evening!!

Tour De Fleece!!!

I can't wait!! Yes.. I said Tour de FLEECE.. no France!! The tour de fleece is a fun summer event that spinners participate in while the Tour de France runs! We spin everyday along with the race. There are teams and prizes. We have the same days of rest.. and when you feel victorious, wear YELLOW!! I'm so excited to start!! Last year we were painting and packing and moving during the Tour and I couldn't spin as much as I wanted to.

This year my goal is to spin everyday and take daily photos of my progress. I also hope to blog a bit daily about my work. I'm really excited for this challenge!! I want to try a few new techniques.. and even try to spin some THIN yarn!! My tour ends in Chicago, as the last weekend I'll be hosting and attending Camp PluckyFluff, one of the coolest art yarn workshops around!!

Tomorrow my spinning time will be at the same time as the race, so it'll be nice to start the tour spinning my wheel along with theirs.. I'm not sure it will always work out that way.. but I'm committed to spinning as much as possible..

I'm on a number of teams.. My main team is the Breakaway team (for art yarns) Then I'm on a number of wildcard teams- Enchanted Elves, Team Loop, Team JazzySpins, Tour de Fish, Hopelessly OverCommitted, Snobby Spinners and StashBusters

YAY!! I can't wait to start!! Off to prep more add in's for my King of Pop yarn that is going on the bobbin first thing. Then some fiery bfl/silk that I plan to spin into soft sport weight singles.. then a Loop batt I plan to corespin with some beads.. Then mayby some tailspun kid mohair locks... and then it might be 2:00.. but if I start at 9:30 I may just make it!!

LOOK for a SHOP UPDATE with new yarns and batts on SATURDAY AND SUNDAY evening!!

So I made a new wonderful friend!! Patti, from GoatGoatSheep is just fantastic.. and she has some of the softest and silkiest kid mohair I have ever felt. I got a small amount.. and then worked out a large amount.. a very large amount!!

The box was like a circus clown car.. locks kept coming out.. in beautiful colors..

Oh I just love the multi colored mardi gras locks!! SO yumtasic!!

Happiness is sorting a rainbow of kid mohair locks...

5x13-Some Like it Hoth Weekly LOST! blogtakeover!

wow.. well, I've been crazy busy the last few weeks, and I've enjoyed reading your discussions. The past couple episodes were good.. but not HUGE.. I think we are really getting to HUGE now!!

A couple of symbolic sightings..
The microwave in the first scene was at 3:16 (the flight that brought them back to the island)

The key for room #4 that little Miles opened was under a white bunny rabbit!

Sawyer and Kate were on Camera #4.

The van Miles and Hurley were driving around in was van# 8, as seen when Miles hung up the key.

New Dharma "school" or education logo.. on Hurly's notebook..

Last night I thought, was great!

We got to see the background on Miles.. and we got confirmation that he is indeed Chang's son.. though we don't know if he was born on the island, or was brought as a child. We can assume he was born on the island, as Hurley says they've been together on the island for 3 years, Miles replied they don't run in the same circles.. and in the same conversation Chang said his son, baby Miles, was 3 mos old.
This also brings Miles and Chang into the whole issues with the fathers theme.. as Miles has LOTS of issues with his father as well..
Chang was reading baby Miles a book about polar bears..
Hurly also compares Miles/Chang relationship to Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker.. interesting because we know that Chang will lose his arm at somepoint.. as Luke lost his hand..

We also know why Miles demanded 3.2 million dollars from Ben.. it's double Widmore's offer.

What Lies in the Shadow of the Statue? Bram (the man who spoke to Miles in the van) was on flight 3:16, and is the one who Elena addresses when she says get everyone together.. on the beach.. SO.. WHO are these people? That cache of guns was ON the PLANE!! it seems these people are planted on the plane as well.. knowing FULL WELL they are going to the island.. SO did Elena get Sayid so he WOULD come to the island? Do these people work for Ben.. were they planted knowing full well he was going to need reinforcements if he was going to take back his position as leader from Locke? But.. they didn't seem to know who ben was.. when he was unconscious.. and when he was going with Locke.. but maybe they were just playing along.. OR.. are they somehow involved with Alpert? Widmore told locke there was going to be a war on the island, and everyone would die if he weren't back.. we assumed the war was going to be the "purge" between the others and DI.. but maybe it's something else...
We know they oppose widmore.. and they seem to have no link with DI.. but since they oppose widmore.. you'd think they'd be for ben.. but as I said earlier.. they don't seem to know him either... So maybe they are somehow related to Alpert.. he does seem to be different than the rest of the others..
OR.. the people in the Van are Dharma 2.0.
In the Shadow of the Statue may have been how the original Dharma found the locations to build the Orchid or Swan or both in that, as the sun travels across the sky, the actual Shadow of the Actual Statue might have ascribed an arc that pointed out locations of specific anomalies. The Statue would have not have to be there if someone knew the original height. Simple trigonometry, time of day, time of year, location of Island on the Earth would do the rest.
That would fit in perfectly with the video from Comic-Con last year. Pierre Chang basically told the audience to reconstitute the Dharma Initiative to finish the work he and his colleges were engaged in!
They know about the island, they know about Miles connection to it and they use some sort of key question just like "What did the snowman say to the other snowman ?"
BUT....
The dead guy that Miles channeled in his 'audition' (whom we are asumming that Sayid killed) was carrying the same intel that Tom showed Michael last season to prove that Widmore is the one who planted that airplane... (the empty graves and the old decommissioned airplane..)
But if Widmore was set to recieve that same intel, doesn't that show that it was actually an unknown third party who planted that airplane?
I mean, if he had come up with that hoax, then he wouldn't need any of that intel, b/c he would have already known all about it.
And so.. could it be that these "shadow of the statue' people are the ones that concocted that hoax?

Chang refers to the Hydra Island and their ridiculous experiments.. so it's obvious he only seems to care about the "power" of the island.. IE the orchid and swan.. but then why was he wearing a Hydra Lab Coat?

We see Dharma School.. as Jack is cleaning the chalkboard. Interesting that
on the right side were the 3 periods of the Egyptian era- upper, middle, lower..
then on the right were some hieroglyphics and the phrase, "Writing of the works of God" It appears that the "class" was learning about ancient Egyptian language, dialects, and hieroglyphics. It seems that the "class" needs to learn how to read, write, and speak ancient Egyptian... maybe it's not a class for children.. but for the DI scientists to be able to interpret what they find?

I think the BEST part of the episode was the end when Faraday came out of the sub! We thought we were finally going to see the DeGroots.. but Faraday is WAY better!! SOO.. how did he get off the island.. the sub? It seems as though he's been gone awhile.. maybe he was removed from the island.. as he was a scary old man who seemed to know the future.. but when he went back he was able to find the degroots (who we know are in ann arbor) and try to change the future? maybe this is how a copy of a page from his notebook (about the different timelines) got into ben's "present" office (that ceaser found when he was searching it)

I'm starting to think that with all the different perspectives, it might be possible that there is no "good" or "bad" guys. It all depends on who you look at. They might be all trying to achieve the same purpose through different ways, or they might be all going a different direction for the island. We don't know right now which is the right one.

I'm just thinking through typing right now, so kind of like a Science v. Faith v. Destiny v. History and each side is fighting for the islands control because they believe it is their island for their purposes. Daniel could be huge on the Science team.

Here is a screencap.. he has a dharma jumper on.. navy like Radzinski. The logo looks like the swan..

Maybe this is how Daniel created the lamp post station.. back in 1977.. Ms. Hawkings said that it was created by a great scientist.. and we couldn't figure out HOW daniel would create that.. but with him back in time.. it makes sense..

What about the scene from Because you Left (the season premier) that had Daniel working in the Orchid.. did that happen BEFORE daniel left.. or has that NOT happened yet..
I'm thinking that it hasn't happened yet.. because we see baby miles in that scene pulling himself up onto his feet.. which kids don't do until 8-9 months.. So maybe that has YET to happen..

The scene with Miles and Hurly talking about how they see dead people was awesome!! I think Hurly can actually SEE the dead.. talk to them.. as we've seen him do.. while Miles it's more of a communication.. but more mental.

What is Sawyer going to do with Phil? I think their cover is now blown..

break next week.. and then the 100th episode.. "The Variable", which is DANIEL centric. Then the week after that is "follow the leader" which is RICHARD centric.. and then the 2 hr season finale, "the Incident" which is EVERYONE centric!

Happy Holiday everyone.. be it Passover or Easter.. this is quite a festive weekend! I went to my first Easter Egg hunt, with my husband's family. Wow.. what a plethora of good friends, family, cute kids and undending sweets! It was a wonderful way to enjoy a beautiful day.. and reminded me of when we used to hunt for the Afekomen (the middle piece of matzah that is hidden during the seder and the children hunt for it after the meal. The seder cannot be completed without everyone eating a piece of the afekomen.)

With that thought in mind.. I share with you my favorite Passover seder.. a funny (and quick) passover story.. with brisket included!

OK my fiber friends.. our first spin along is up and running!! What is the theme you ask? Well we got to chatting in the rav group about our love of all things 80's.. and I couldn't resist the My Little Pony chatter.. so here it is.. our first spin along theme is MY LITTLE PONY!! Since my batt sets are all unique, this spin along will be even more fun because we are all going to get our OWN batts.. based on DIFFERENT my Little Ponies!!! YAY!! Didn't you want your own pony??

You will recieve 2 batts, totaling 4 oz or more of fiber. You will also recieve some very special add in's and embellishments for your yarns.

Listings are up in the shop.. and will be available until April 11. (or until the spaces run out) I’ll ship the batts by the 14th.

Oh the drugging!! Does it make me a TOTAL hippie that the hubby and I looked at the dropper and sugar cube and just BURST into laughter!! Are we on the lot or something? Also..I mean.. if they gave ANYONE that much LSD they would be talking about being from the future.. even if they WEREN"T!! I mean.. that was an entire DROPPERFULL!! LOL!! so yeah.. a good hefty trip into strawberry fields for our sayid. I thought that scene was quite funny!! You gave me just the right amount! LOL!!
It was interesting, though, that Sawyer didn't hightail it out of there.. Luckily the DI folk don't know him as Sawyer.. but he sure looked nervous when Sayid started talking about the planes.. and crashing on the island AGAIN.. and then called out sawyer. I just wish he would have pointed when they said "who's sawyer"

SAYID SHOOTING BEN!! wow.. what a great ending!! So this brings up a few ??'s! We can't say sayid KILLED ben.. since we only saw ben get shot.. we didn't see him die...
1. most importantly.. how does this change the future? Daniel says what happened happened.. but maybe that's not true- or we know that the outcome will always be the same.. but how we get there can change? Is adult ben going to do a back to the future style fade out now that his past has been change (though it's really his past.. and present?.. since it's all happening again..) so how is that going to affect the ben we know as an adult, who's unconscious with the rest of the injured aljera passengers.
Perhaps this is why the Barracks looked so different in 2007 when Sun and Lapidus went there...as if not inhabitated by the Others at any point...no "inside" man (Ben) to conduct and orchestrate the Purge... We do notice that the offices Ceaser is rifiling thru looks much different than the "present" 2007 we saw earlier.. and we know the barracks look different.. there is a "new" present that the ajiera and Locke (and sun and lapidus) are in.. a changed present.. because when when the plane calls for a maday.. we hear the Numbers transmission.. and danielle turned that off 16 years before.. and then it was turned off fully to contact the freighter...
2. could this be the [b]WAY[/b] that ben becomes the leader of the others? If we go by daniel's what happened happens theory... then young ben died the first time around.. Alpert did say he had to be patient. Maybe ben has to die to first become the others leader.. maybe the person whom jacob/the island brings back to life becomes the leader. (so maybe that's why ben is even MORE threatened by Locke.. since he keeps trying to kill him, and the island keeps bringing him back) If we go with the egyptian mythology they've shown us the last few episodes.. then we are on a path that this island could be where the dead are reborn.. or where the dead come to rest.. or the "good" come.. as ben always says he's a "good" person.. and Jacob's list was of "good" people..
3. Sayid thinks that now that the losties are with DI that his way to "save them" like ben said that returning to the island would do, would be to stop the incident.. or the purge... we know something with the incident happens.. since the season finale is titled "the incident"..
4. if we are going with the idea that the island has brought everyone back to DI in the 70's to course correct (as Ms. Hawkings said it always does.. it takes time, but things always correct course) maybe ben wasn't suspossed to become the leader of the others at all. Maybe the island is making happen what's SUSPOSSED to happen.. not what DID happen? Perhaps John was suspossed to take over from Widmore as a leader.. since we are assuming that Widmore was ousted when Ben took over..
5. Could this be why Adult ben calls sayid a killer.. because he's remembered all along that ben kills him as a child (i don't actually think this is the case.. because I really don't think that adult ben remembers sayid from his childhood.. since on a linear timeline.. that hadn't happened.. but if sayid can change the future.. maybe ben has known the losties all along!)
6 there's now a spinal surgon on the island.. Sawyer brought Juliette out of retirement to save ethan.. I'm not sure how he explained off a mechanic being able to deliver a baby.. but I'm for sure not thinking that he'll be able to explain a workman (since that was jack's aptitude test results) being able to operate on anyone!! Will they go to jack to have him try to save young ben? Will he want to? This is the SECOND time Jack could be called on to save ben..

OK.. so.. we know that Dr Chang is from Ann Arbor.. so maybe that's who they were going to call.. or maybe that's where the DeGroots are.. and they met Chang there, and brought him into DI.. The orientation video of the swan said the DeGroots were Doctoral candidates at the University of Michigan

I wonder who Laura is.. chang's wife (or nanny?) we haven't seen a laura yet.. We also know from that video that it must be filmed ON the island- since chang references LaFleur.. unless sawyer somehow time travels with Daniel...
it seems as this image was also embedded within that video.. not sure what it means..

I'm glad that kate finally talked to sawyer.. I really hope that julette and sawyer stay together.. I think they are cute!!

Still not sure what the deal is with Baby Ethan.. and how he joins the others..

Weekend Carding FRENZY & an answer to the question, How do I size batt sets?

Whew! What a weekend! I've been at one with the carder since I left the spa on Sat afternoon. The shop got updated with 8 new batt sets today!! YAY!! My favorite is an alpaca/bamboo/merino/silk and sparkle set that includes some sari silk ribbon called BollyWood.

There's the return of "Sandy Beaches" set- this is the only one of those for awhile.

There's also going to be a few sets going up tomorrow that I didn't get to photograph today before the sun set. A Koi Pond set will go up, again the only one of those that will go into the shop for a few weeks. I also will have another art yarn set similar to BollyWood.

I carded this set *for* the shop.. but it was snagged before it got there LOL!! I have to share it with you though, 'cuz I really think it's fun!! It's merino, bamboo and silk with snippets of cassette tape and 3 colors florescent angelina. The add in's are extra cassette tape snippets, novelty yarn and sparkly pom poms

I've had some questions as to how I decide how much each set is going to weigh. As a art yarn spinner, my fiber doesn't tend to go as far as those who spin lace weight. When I spin superbulky, I may only get 60 yards or so out of 4 oz. I like to be able to get fiber in a bit larger amounts so I can spin an art yarn, and get enough yardage for a substantial project. This is why I have been carding some sets to be above 4oz.. to give art yarn spinners the ability to get decent yardage with the same fiber (especially of the batt sets that are one of a kind). I keep my treasure chest batt sets to 3-4 oz because those can be combined for larger yardage.

If you would only like one of the batts, please let me know and I can usually split the set for you :)

Now to spin some yarn and watch bad TV!! LOL!!

What's 14 LB of random fiber look like?

Thanks to Lindsay of the fabu WhimzyPinzy Creations I now KNOW!! She was destashing her random fiber bits that she just wasn't going to use.. and I got a boatload!! I got this HUGE box in the mail the other day.. and the fiber just GREW out of it!! It was packed to the VERY top!!

When I pulled the bags out it just got bigger and bigger and bigger..

I pulled stuff out of bags and started sorting.. it filled my studio!!

There's SW Merino/Nylon/Cashmere for sock batts

LOTS of bits of bamboo and some silk.. in roving and uncarded..

Wool roving (dyed and undyed) and some locks and fleece- alpaca and targee

There were TONS of batts.. all textures, fibers and colors..

and finally.. there was an unbelievable amount of random fiber bits.. my FAVORITE kind!! Duke definitely approved right away! He dove right in!! I had to chase him away or he would have felted it all!! LOL!!

I'm in for a FANTABULOUS carding time tonight! Look for a big batt update tomorrow evening!!

5x09 Namaste- Weekly LOST! blogtakeover

Ok.. let's take a moment to realize we've just entered the second half of the season. There are now only 23 episodes left to the series *moment of sadness* :-[ That also means we *should* start to be getting somethings coming full circle.. I think we begin to see some of that in this episode. It doesn't leave us with any answers yet..even more questions really.. but I'm SOO excited for this last bit.. I am also SOO sad that we only have 7 episodes left!!

What an episode last night.. huh? We really are getting deeper into the characters than before.. which is great.
I do think both Jack and Sawyer were being douchey.. Jack came back to the island with the same attitude as before- that he's calling the shots.. and Sawyer was really enjoying having one over Jack..

Did you hear the numbers over the plane's radio when they were calling maday? Didn't Danielle change the transmission.. then it played her sos call for 16 years.. then they turned it off right? so they could contact the freighter? Charlie turned off the blocking as well.. when he died? So does that mean that they are not in the present? It did say 30 years earlier.. which makes it 1977 in DI and 2007 for the people on the plane.. SO does that mean that the losties being back in DI in the 70's CHANGES THE FUTURE? so that danielle's message somehow never gets recorded?

They landed on the runway that Sawyer and Kate were helping build back in season 3. So that could be a nod that it's the future (or present.. but could it have been finished already?) When the island flashed and the losties were on the beach and saw the ajiara water bottles and were shot at on the boats.. so they flashed to the "changed" present.. or the future present..

WHERE IS DANIEL FARADAY? Is he dead from being unstuck? Did he tell young charlotte never to come back and is in a cell somewhere? Did he run off to join the others? Is he just off working in the orchid? Has he sent himself thru time? We know that his journals have been seen throughout the places and times.. the page about real time and imaginary time Ceaser found in the office.. Daniel seems surprised when he consults his journals.. could it be that he wrote those entries when he was in different times.. and it is confusing to him what the entries say..

How cool that we now know Radizenski was building the swan model.. and that it wasn't built in 1977.. but Chang/Wickman/Candle was wearing a swan coat in the orientation video's..

So the woman standing behind Sun in the new arrivals cabin.. are we suspossed to think it's claire, or is it a HUGE production error?

Back to the egyptian mythology from LaFleur.. Did anyone notice the porcelain cat in Sawyers house?

Cats were worshipped in ancient egypt and even mummified.

BEN as a KID!! This is the age that he saw his mother in the forest right? He asks sayid if he's a hostlie? Because he's already had an encounter with Alpert? If the losties being back in the 70's changes the present.. does Ben remember Sayid from when he was a child? Will he have "new" childhood memories of meeting sayid? Did anyone realize that in season 2, Ben and Sayid were in the exact opposite places but in the hatch? Ben locked up and Sayid visiting him..
Does Sawyer and crew know about young ben? Has something Faraday said convinced them not to kill him, and thus preventing the all of this from ever happening?
Also Back at the end of season 2, who was on "Jacob's List"??? Jack, Sayid, Kate, and Hurley. And who tried to rescue them on the boat? Sayid, Sun, and Jin. With the exception of Sun (at the moment...mayhaps Christian will get her back), all people who are in 1977 at the moment. What if it wasn't "Jacob's List" at all, but Ben's list because he remembered them thirty years later?

OMG.. Amy and Horus' son is ETHAN!! So we know Ethan is an "other" in the future.. so somehow he also jumps from DI to the others with Ben? We saw Tom working in the DI a couple of weeks go.. (could be a *different* tom.. but ) so did some of the DI go with Ben to the "others" and not everyone was killed in the purge?

I thought it was funny that Kermit the Frog on the Muppet Show is on the Darhma monitor when Jin is looking for the Radar in the flame station

and the last ?? i have.. WHERE ARE ROSE AND BERNARD?? Did they get killed? what happend to them? I miss them!!

There are a lot of egyptian references in this episode..

I definitely think that the statue could be the god Anibus WikiGodAnibus
He his the god that is associated with the afterlife!! The hieroglyphs for his name are similar to those seen in the hatch countdown, and on the temple where the smoke monster comes from.
Paul was wearing the ankh, which is the symbol of everlasting life..
Horus is an egyptian god WikiGodHours He is the sky, sun and war god. His hieroglyphs also are similar to those seen in the hatch, and on the smokey temple and doors.
RA is the ancient egyptian sun god (Richard Alpert's initals are RA)- WikiGodRa In later egyptian times, Ra and Horus merge and then become the god of the sun, sky and underworld. he sure seems to love his eyeliner!!
Horace = Sky/Dharma
Anubis = Underworld/Others
then they merge?

John locke also mentioned that backgammon was created by the egyptians when he was teaching it to walt.. which is true- the egyptians did play a game that resembled backgammon.. WikiBackgammon

Hurley was also painting the sphinx in egypt last week..

So we are giving a number of references to everlasting life.. and the underworld.. could the island be the place where the dead come? We know that miles speaks to them.. and that some who are dead have become "undead".. but not everyone..

This timeline thing is what's really driving me crazy..
So... the oceanic 6 experiened 3 years in what was a few days to our losties on the island.. this is what Widmore tells Locke.. And THEN when locke leaves the island.. 3 years pass for our island losties.. while only a month passes for the oceanic 6 and locke off the island

Also.. our ajiera friends... and locke.. are they also in the DI time or are they in the present 2005? They landed on a runway on the Hydra island.. if the runway was built in the DI time, why would they be traveling on the sub? So when kate, sawyer and hurly flashed off the plane, did they flash into DI time? Where's sayid and sun?

So Daniel says that everything happened, happened.. so Juliet and Sawyer and crew were always a part of Dharma? So the reason that Sawyer and Juliet don't know eachother when they first meet.. is that their hooking up in the 70's hasn't happened yet.. they are still living their "normal" lives.. now.. will they meet young ben and know everything about him? Will they try to change history and prevent him from taking over? Did ben know who they were when he first met them-- that they had been in dharma back in the 70's.. This is what makes my brain hurt!!

Where is daniel by the way? We haven't seen him since he saw Charlotte.. we didn't see him in the "three years later" flashes.. which i guess is now the present..

It's interesting how our island losties and the oceanic 6 each experienced 3 years.. but not at the same time or pace..

Spinning BIG yarns and spinning outside the box

I am having SOO much fun with my new spinning wheel, Desmond. I have very little limitations with the size of my yarns now.. and I have HUGE bobbins.. so now these yarns can be more than 20 yards a skein!! YAY!! I have been working on yarns that are 4 wraps per inch!! HUGE!! They would NEVER have fit thru my previous wheel!

I have also been working on spinning "outside the box" Rather than keeping to one fiber artist.. I've been taking handfuls of lots of fiber.. mixing and matching colors and textures..

My most recent yarn, I'm calling "Diva's Easter Basket" I took handfuls of Alpaca clouds from the HomesteadWoolandGiftFarm, some merino x locks, bamboo and banana silk (named after me because it's purple LOL!!) from HollyEQQ, 4 babycakes from LOOP, some pink banana silk from blondchickenboutique and a couple mini batts from TerraBellaSpun I added in some sequins, novelty yarn snippets and sari silk ribbon.. along with lots of angelina and lurex turbo bling from hollyeqq(she calls it GLAM-- and it totally is!!)

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE how the yarn turned out!! Super fun and sparkly.. full of texture and color.. It's just fantastic!

SNOW DAY!! It's fiber fiber fiber all day

Oh how exciting to wake up with 4 inches of snow on the ground!! Yesterday it just rained ALL DAY.. and not a light rain either.. Heavy constant rain. There was at least 2 plus inches of rain on the ground.. and then it started to sleet and freezing rain about 6pm. Oh man.. at least an inch of ice..

THEN the snow came.. Hard and fast .. HUGE Chicago style flakes..

I wanted to stay up as long as I could to watch it fall. It was so beautiful.. fluffy and sparkly.. by 3am there was a thick blanket..

When I woke up.. we had a bright white day.. full of ice and snow. Kids are outside playing.. and I think I'm going to make a snowman!!

I hope my daffodils survive!

So now I"m going to spend the day playing with fiber. I put the fixin's for chili into the crockpot before I went to bed, so it'll be ready by lunch. We have steaks to broil for dinner.. we don't have to leave the house ALL DAY!!

That's what I love about North Carolina.. we get a snow day from 5 inches.. If I were still in Chicago.. I'd be at work already!!

I'm off to play in fiber..

What a busy night!! I carded up SIX new batt sets for the shop update tomorrow.. and I have another 4 or 5 more that I plan to card tomorrow and list as well!! There's also a BUNCH of yarn going up.. some I didn't get up this week and a couple new ones- the first spun on DESMOND!! YAY!! I'm really excited for everything and I plan to start adding stuff into the shop in the morning, and just continue through the day!!

After all that cranking.. it's time for some spinning before some well deserved sleep!! I did five massages today.. went to costco, got new tires on my car AND had dinner with my mother in law.. all before I started carding! I'm pooped!!

Goodbye Old friend.. Hello NEW friend!!

So.. it was a sad week last week, when I packed up my old friend, "Joy" and sent her off to her new home!! I spun my last yarn on her.. did my LAST bit of handwinding thru those hooks and remembered our good times. I'll miss you Joy.. but I know you are off to a loving new home..

I did, however, pick up my NEW spinning wheel on Sunday. A Lendrum, double treadle.. with a JUMBO FLYER! It is HUGE with a massive orifice!! BIG art yarns..with bobbles and buttons.. flowers and butterflies.. it's all possible now!!!
His name is Desmond, and I'm in love!!

5x7 The Life and Times of Jeremy Bentham

WOW!! what an episode!! Lots of info last night!! I think that's going to start happening a LOT!! We have rounded the bend.. to where they are going to start giving us more answers than leaving us with questions. I don't necessarily think we'll know what questions go to the answers.. but we'll be getting more and more info with every episode..

OK.. onto the good stuff!! 5x7- The life and Times of Jeremy Benthem-

So our losties "crashed" onto the HYDRA island!! Well.. not really crashed, LANDED on the COMPLETED RUNWAY!!!
Juliet said in season 3 finale that they were building a runway on the Hydra island.. and then Ceaser and Ilana were walking on the completed runway!! Also, there were outriggers on the Hydra island.. which is what Kate and Sawyer took off the Island when Karl followed them...So that makes me think The Others knew this plane would need a place to land, and built the runway in anticipation.

The ?? is what TIME are they in?!?!? We know Kate/Hurly/Jack are back in the 70's Dharma time.. cuz there's the working van, and Jin is Dharma.. Did they "Flash" off the plane? but it seems as though the plane and our "new" losties are in the present time.. on a completed runway.. Is John with the new losties? What about Frank and the woman he ran off with.. could it be Sun? Why wouldn't Frank, Sun (or other woman) and John have flashed with Jack, Hurly and Kate? and Ben? Ben doesn't flash perhaps, because the island never intended him to come back? Maybe the runway is in the past, and it gets destroyed.. and then they are REBUILDING it in season 3?

Ceaser or one of the people who were talking about Locke in the beginning said: "they saw him come from the water" or something close to that. Christian was standing in the ocean when Jack saw him in season 1- also wearing a suit!! Interestingly John takes off Johns shoes..

Abbadon- I hope that's not the last we see of him. Was he on the island before? Abbadon in some texts is considered to be a fallen angel, and whom may or may not have regained God's favor. There are many conflicting accounts of who and what Abbadon is. He is said to be in league with Lucifer, and a King in Hell in some references. In others, he wrestled with Satan during the the Apocalypse and cast him into the Abyss, where he was ultimately defeated and bound.

Interesting that John Locke's alias is Jeremy Bentham- Bentham is also an english philosopher and social reformer and became known as one of the most influential of the utilitarians. This is the DIRECT OPPOSITE of the english philospher John Locke, who is considered the first of the British empiricists!! So there are 2 forces at work within the one character..

I personally do not believe that Ben knew that Locke had to die to get back to the island at the time that he killed him. If this is the case then this is another biblical reference where Ben represents those unbelivers who killed Christ, but did not realize that in killing him there were fulfilling the destiny and true path of Christ (Locke).

Now that we see John "alive" ressurected.. I think that Christian is more alive than an apparition.. but we haven't seen EVERYONE who dies come "back to life" boone.. shannon..goodwin.. ethan.. so is it only some people are special.. we have seen patchy mcgee keep coming back..

What about the Jack Shepherd being the one that John had to convince. And if he convinced the shepherd, the rest (of the sheep) would follow). Jack didn't believe John until he said that his father says hello.. and then ben tells John that Jack bought a plane ticket to sydney.. so that's the point when Jack starts flying back and forth trying to get back..

the date on the life mag: Apr 19, 1954

it says something about hydrogen on it and what looks like an explosion .. The military photo we saw last week was 9/22/54 (50 years before the oceanic crash) Could the mag have something to do with the JugHead bomb?

So the exit point is Tunesia.. and when ben comes out it's 2005. it didn't look like there was a camera or anything there at that point.. the nomads came upon ben and said.. there are no footprints.. so Widmore (who came out there too?) must have installed that camera after ben came to visit him..

Widmore.. I'm really not sure WHAT to think of him now!! I never liked ben really.. since we knew him as Henry.. then Fenry (FakeHenry).. he's always been a liar. protecting is OWN interests.. we only thought widmore was bad because that's how ben set him up.. and Widmore was a douche to our Desmond.. but what if it was because he KNEW desmond had to get to the island (and he did obviously-- he set up the boat race that got him there) and widmore knew the only way to get desmond there was to seperate him and penny.. so to protect the island he forgo's his daughter's happiness. That would point to Widmore being more serving to the island than Ben.. as ben does whatever is in HIS best interest.. not the island's best interest..

Was Widmore a leader of the others? How is he involved in Dharma? When did he get exiled?

WALT!! It was good to see tall ghost walt! He is definitly much HUGER now LOL!! I do think that even though John gave Walt a pass on going back... he will somehow end up back on the island. How about those DREAMS?!! We know that walt is special!! he said he saw John in a suit surrounded by bad people. Well John does crash in a suit. Could these bad people have to do with the war- or could they be the "new" losties.. like how our losties freaked out when they found out ethan wasn't on the plane?

I definitely agree that ben murdered Locke because Locke gave him the information he needed.. Eloise Hawkings. We've seen ben kill locke before.. we KNOW ben is threatened by locke.. Ben moved the island-- because he wanted to be the one to save the island and go back as the leader.. but it didn't work.. because that's not what Ben is suspossed to be doing!! Christian told john that he told HIM to move the island.. it's JOHN's place to go back and lead..

wow.. just wow!! When the episode started with Jack in the jungle.. I totally had a brain melt!! I was like WTF!!

Let's start with the most important.. The episode is titled, 316. I think this is in reference to "John 3:16" (get it.. JOHN, 316)

John 3:16 refers to the concept of substitutionary atonement, the concept that Christ died on behalf of His followers. In the same way, Locke's dead body is a substitute for Christian's The entire episode focused on Jack's evolving faith and belief in all that's been happening.. "Take a Leap of Faith, Jack" said Ms. Hawkings.... "I wish you would have believed me" said John's note. Belief and faith.. Just ANOTHER HUGE nod as John as a Christ figure..

I actually think Locke is Christ-- as he dies for everyone to come back to the island (for their "sins" persay) and then to be resurrected, but JACK is the apostle. This entire episode was about Jacks non belief and needing to have faith.. and the apostle needs to TOUCH christs wounds to believe.. he doesn't have faith.. but ben said he does in the end.. like Jack putting his father's shoes on Locke- he makes the leap of faith..

Those SHOES also are important.. Jack tells Locke's body that he didn't have enough care to get decent shoes for his father, and that he just gave him some white tennis shoes.. who was going to see his shoes? We've seen christian wearing those shoes.. we also saw them hanging from a tree in the jungle in the piliot episode

Carlton and Cuse said there was a major clue inthe very virst scene of the very first episode- maybe the shoes are the clue! I always thought it was vincent looking into jack's eyes-- vincent really being the smokemonster, "reading" jack.. then creating christian. Since everyone that has seen someone dead has had an encounter with smokey and been "read" except Jack.. unless it happened that first moment in the jungle.. and then vincent is really a manifestation of smokey the monster.. but maybe not.. maybe it's the shoes...

I think it was soooo crazy how the flight was able to be recreated.. hurly bringing on charlie's guitar-(did Charlie tell him to be on that plane?) reading a spanish comicbook!

Sayid being in handcuffs with a marshal (instead of kate), ben running on almost missing the flight.. John in the coffin- recreating Christian! Kate wearing shades and looking really strung out.. like Jack did. Jack was wearing a similar suit.. Ben was reading a book (Sawyer was reading).. also Claire was pregnant.. could KATE BE PREGNANT?!?? Jack and kate did the deed the night before.. could Kate be fulfilling that piece? Jack also had a letter from Locke.. Like sawyer has a letter he wrote to the real sawyer (johns father..)
Sun was hoping to reunite with her husband to save their marriage. In a way, going to the US Jin was attempting to go the same thing. Jack also stopped at the bar before he got on the plane.. also when jack got his ticket after explaining why locke's body was going to guam, that arab looking guy said he was sorry for jacks loss...and if i remember correctly michael said that to him the first time they got on the plane after jack got his ticket. so maybe that arab looking guy is in the place of michael..

HOW ABOUT JOHN RECREATING CHRISTIAN?!?!?! I think that's REALLY significant!! Maybe Christian WAS trying to get back to the island!! When Jack went and visited Ray (his Grand-dad) it seemed as though Ray KNEW what was going on.. when Jack said he was going away for awhile he didn't seem suprised.. and he seemed to KNOW that Jack would need those shoes!!!! We also saw a WHITE RABBIT in the nursing home where Ray was!! I definitely think he knows something!!

Jin is DHARMA?? Ok.. so obviouly when John stopped the flashes, they are not in "their" time.. but back in Dharma time.. maybe mid 70's. So how do our losties become involved with DI? Are they taken in and they just start working with them? Where are the "others" and whose with them at this point? Is Widmore still there? Since Juliet was an other in the "future" is she an other in the DI time too? The logo on Jin's jumpsuit looks like one we haven't seen yet..

Notice the virgin mary statue on Ms Hawking's desk? Look familiar? The Nigerian plane...

Did anyone notice, that in the "Lamp Post" there was a photo taken, 9/23/54?!?! That's exactly 50 years to the date of the oceanic plane crash. The last time we heard about 1954, Alpert had just killed the US military group that had arrived. Same group? Probally..
SOOOOOOOOOO.. How is widmore connected? He was ON the island when that happened. Is that how Dharma got the photo, because Widmore took it off the dead soldiers?

Let's talk about the LampPost for a second!! Like the lamp post from Narnia books, it's a gateway between our world and the island. In The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, at the end of the book the Lamp post is how they find their way home. Also, the windows concept is very Narnian. That tends to be how getting to Narnia works. You don't always get there through one place, but rather windows that take you there at the right time.With Jack potentially gaining faith that is very similar to CS Lewis who went from being an atheist to a leader in Christianity. Will Jack be the leader the island always wanted him to be but he never had the faith to become?

So she tells us the island is MOVING thru space.. which is why it's never found! How then, does dharma do food drops? How was ben and crew able to get on and off the island before 815 crashed? I don't quite understand how that is going to work yet..

I was pretty bummed there wasn't MORE SUPRISE and interaction when we first all come together with dez and ms hawkings! Why didn't anyone react when Des said she was faraday's mother? Ms Hawkings didn't look very happy at all when Des told everyone that!! There wasn't much reaction either when he said that she was the reason he had gone to the island, and been there 4 years? I wanted more from that itital meeting! Who was the "great man" she was taking about that originally came up with the idea to look for where the island would BE.. widmore? marvin candle? Faraday?

An oceanic flight is taking off behind the ajara flight..

FRANK LAPIDIS!! We're not going to Guam are we? LOL!! Remember he was the ORIGINAL pilot of flight 815, and he got sick and didn't make that flight.. that's how he KNOWS it's not the real oceanic flight 815 on the ocean floor! So now there is a "course correction" as desmond used to call it.. and fate is briging him BACK to the island!!

What happened to Aaron? Isn't he a part of the 6? Will he somehow return? was he taken by Claire's mother? I hope that is explained..

What happened to ben? I think he went after Penny.. when he saw Des, he knew penny was in town.. and went to fufill his promise to widmore, that he was going to kill his daughter.. Ms Hawkings says the island is not done with des yet.. maybe that's how he gets back.. because Penny gets killed and Des goes to hunt down Ben.. Ben calls jack from a marina.. we know that Des and penny came by boat.. Oh.. that will make me SOO sad.. but Carlton and Cuse have said in podcasts that things will get bad for our des and penny :'(

It was amazing last night.. I CAN"T WAIT for next week!!

5x05- This Place is Death

OMG OMG OMG!! The BEST episode in SEASONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like the show vomited information on us last night!! Like it was a BOXING match of information.. and I was just knocked out!!!

smokey the monster is a security system for the temple.. We have heard that from Juliet, Ben and Danielle herself.. back in season 1.. it still doesn't tell us WHAT it is!! It was awesome to see smokey last night!! We have heard about the temple when Ben told Alpert to take the people to the temple and wait there. It looks as though the hieroglyphs are the same that we see in the swan, as well as on the door that ben opened to go let the smoke monster loose on keamy's team

Now we know what Danielle was refering to when she says "where Montand lost his arm"

Obviously that's the "sickness" that danielle was speaking of... perhaps Smokey 'possessed' robert.. I don't think robert was an apperation of Smokey.. because danielle shoots him, and we know a gunshot won't affect smokey. I defintily think the island knew that danielle couldn't die, which is why robert's gun jammed. At that point she DOES remember Jin...

Danielle's music box.. I think we first saw that in season 1!! I think it was in episode 9-- the music plays, but the dancers are stuck. Sayid fixes it for Danielle... I think Danielle *would* remember meeting Jin if she were alive now (in the "losties" time) because it's now happened.. but when she first met him.. the flashes hadn't happend yet.. so she hadn't yet met him in the past.. so really it hadn't happened yet. Same reason why Desmond didn't remember Daniel when he met him in a flash.. in the flash, daniel hadn't yet talked to him and told him about a constant and to find him.. that happend last season.. so when daniel pounded on the hatch.. Des wouldn't have had those experiences yet.. so he wouldn't have had the "past" experience yet... I thought it was interesting that one of the boats at the dock were named "Illusion" and another was named "Lies Mystery".

Charlotte LIVED on the ISLAND as a child!! She knew where John should go to find the wheel.. when she was losing grip on time because of the flashes, she muttered, "Oh, turn it up, I love Geronimo Jackson," or something to that effect. She was a part of the DI.. could her parents be the DeGroots? could she be ben's childhood friend Annie? and HOW does she know Korean?!?!? I was sad for Daniel when she went into the last "unstuck" like Theresa from back in London. I hope she's still involved in the storyline.. but I do know she was always a "guest star" rather than regular cast like daniel and miles.. so who knows. Interesting that she was having the memories of MEETING daniel.. and she thought of him as a crazy old man who scared her.. because he told her to leave and never come back, or she would die!! Did Daniel try to change the future.. break the rules so to say? Did he get her to leave the island before the purge.. thus saving her life-- and then the island course corrects and she dies anyway? It seems as though there's TWO agendas floating around.. We've seen Ben and Christian (Jacob), Charlie and crew that are trying to get everyone to come BACK to the island.. we assume the island is speaking thru Christian.. but WHO is telling them NOT to come back? Something possesses Charlotte to tell Jin NOT to let them bring Sun back.. that the island is death.. and it doesn't seem as though it's really "charlotte' speaking.. Then we also have Claire and Anna Lucia appearing.. telling people NOT to come back.. so who is controlling the "NOT come back" agenda?

Locke sees CHRISTIAN down by the wheel!! I don't think Christian is Jacob.. but somehow a manifestation of Jacob. Interesting that he says "I told YOU to move the island".. I definitly think the bouncing back and forth was causing the flashes.. and where ever it stops now is the time they are in.. I like the idea that we may now be in a Dharma Initative time... We know that Daniel was back in time when the orchid was being built, and is down there when Dr Chang(Candle) comes down and tells them to stop drilling or it will unleash the power behind the rock.. and now we know he told a young Charlotte to leave the island and never come back or she will die..

I find it interesting that Jacob and Benjamin are Old Testament names, and as this show has many Biblical allusions, with John (A New Testament name and seemingly a Christ-like figure on the show now with him being sacrificed, dying and then apparently going back to resurrect on the island), Christian (part of the New Testament) would make sense to be the new island "overlord"-- another Christ reference.. John returns to the island 3 years later to be Resurrected (Christ was 3 days)

We saw the "black pillar of smoke" that Danielle referred to way back in season 1!!

MS HAWKINGS IS DAN'S MOTHER!!! Could the monk from Dez's past be her father? How awesome was the LOOK on Dez's face when he first saw her and was like OMG- the RING lady!! Ben looked surprised when Desmond asked if "they were looking for Faraday's mother too". So either Ben didn't know Eloise was Daniel's mother, or he just didn't expect Desmond to know that as well. I definitely think now, that Ellie from the island (widmore's time) is the same Eloise as we have now in the present. I think Ben was surprised by her being Faraday's mom because Faraday came to the island on Widmore's ship. This connects Ms. Hawkings and Charles Widmore. Widmore funded her son's work and she could be using that work right now to discover where the island is. I don't see Ben as being the kind of person to trust her after finding this out.

OMG.. I have to watch it again today before work...
I LOVE this show!! Next week is the life of Jeremy Benthem-- we'll see what happens to Locke OFF the island.. then the week after that is called 316.. which is the flight number of an ajara airlines flight...

5x04- Little Prince

AWESOME episode last night!! Here goes..

The van that Ben was driving said Canton Rainier Carpet Cleaning.. Canton Rainier is an anagram for reincarnation

The piece of wreckage found from Rousseau's craft said "Besixdouze." Besixdouze (B612) is the name of the planet (asteroid really) that the Little Prince lived on. The Little Prince leaves his planet and after wandering the universe realizes how much he had before he left and he longs to go back... Is the Little Prince Jack? or is it Locke. In the book, the Little Prince has to die to find his way home. Perhaps the narrator in the book in the world of Lost is Jack. His life has gone without purpose until he crashes in the desert and meets the Little Prince. He learns from him the meaning of life. Jack's life was without purpose until he crashed on the island. Who then is the Little Prince? Maybe Locke. The Little Prince dies in order to free his worldly body and return to his planet, aka the island. We know that Locke leaves his own world, the island and has to die. Locke certainly has taught Jack the true meaning of life.

Ajira Airlines.. we don't really know how big of a role this will play.. could these be survivors from another crash? In the ARG that was suspossed to run last summer (which was cancelled because they ran out of money) It was suspossed to play a role. Ajira Airlines commericals ran before the Season Premier (in some areas) So how important is this? This website was launched, and it seems to resemble the old "oceanic" website.. but I haven't gotten any hidden stuff.. just very "lost" related excursions.. http://www.ajiraairways.com

When you look at the descriptions of the adventures.. do you notice who wrote them all? "[b]Posted by Antonio B. MacCutcheon[/b]" isn't MacCutcheon the name of the whiskey that Widmore doesn't think Des is good enough to drink.. and the same whiskey that Des, Charlie and Hurley found on the island?
What about the description?? "Escape your urban surroundings to discover the bleached beasts that are native to the southern hemisphere." and there's an image of a polar bear next to it. Polar bears aren't native to the Southern Hemisphere; they are native to the Arctic. These Adventures definitely seem Island related..

If you look at the date in the corner it is the air date of the Season Premier (1/21/09) it says John 316 . Part of the Ajira website has a Flight 316 to Guam, the trailer for Ajira has a split frame of a driver with 316 on his sign, John 3:16 was referenced on the website, and also is the Bible passage promising those who believe in God "everlasting" life.
I think I'm pretty certain the O6 and John Locke will be on that plane, and return to the Island on it. 316 fits with the title of S5 Ep 7 "316."

This particular statement is talking about two people, one fictional, and one real in conversation. These people are Leopold Bloom and Michael Cusack. Leopold Bloom is fictional and seems to be indifferent to Irish Nationalism and gets in a fight with a real character called the citizen(Who is Michael Cusack, essentially). This is part of their argument on nationalism in Ireland (Page 34).
Maybe because Locke has to fabricate an identy? I'm not sure where this is going to come into play.. but it wasn't hidden in the sourcecode for no reason..

Do you notice in the corners of the boarding pass.. the symbols!?!?! Aren't those the symbols from the swan?

How AWESOME that Jin is ALIVE!! so he must be within the area of time shifting.. and he's just been shifting with the island? Will he be able to figure out that he's not in the "time" he remembers? Will his meeting Danielle somehow affect what has happened in the past?

Nose Bleeds... OK.. so are we to assume this starts happening according to the amount of time you've spent on the island? So we know now that Charlotte and Miles have been to the island before.. because they were born there? but how did they leave, and why do they not know? Charlotte has told daniel she still doesn't know where she was born. Now Juliette is getting them.. we know she's been on the island at least 3 years.. The enhanced version of last week(aired prior to the new episode) mentioned the temporal problem causing Charlotte's nosebleeds. They need to find their constant just like Desmond did when he got the "sickness" when the time jumped while he was on the helicopter to the freighter.
I don' think the nosebleeds/constant issue are the "sickness" that Danielle speaks of, that caused the death of her crew. The nosebleeds and such are happening to people who are experiencing the time shifts. Danielle and them shouldn't be experiencing those skips.. They exist in a period of the island's history where the inhabitants aren't skipping through time. "What happened, happened".. so they are just part of the story that the island is reliving.. So their sickness must be something else entirely

Ben's Lawyer.. hmmmmmmmmmmm..IMO -the biggest thing to take from that scene. Ben has ties to Oceanic. A few weeks ago we learned Widmore has ties to Oceanic. Can we assume that the Others, and the island in general are somehow tied together with Oceanic?.

I have to admit I was a bit irritated that we didn't have any subtitles, when we first encountered Rousseau and her team. I did hear the numbers repeating on their radio. Someone from lost-forum.com said nothing important was said, except, "We shouldn't have followed those numbers"

5x03 Jughead

Ok.. sorry I'm late with this one..somehow it didn't get posted. I'll post last week's and then this weeks..
5x03- Jughead

This could be something.. or not.. but the doctor Desmond was calling for at the beginning's name was Efren Salonga, which is an anagram for "no safer angel."

While Ellie was taking Faraday to the Jughead, he mumbles, "you look just like her" Who do you think "her" could be? A character we already know, or someone new? Could it be his mother.. in the 50's? Could she and young Widmore have gotten together and made a baby.. DANIEL?!?!? When Miles first pointed out Dan to Ellie, she said, "You just couldn't stay away, could you?" Is it because she knows that this is her son.. from the future.. or is it because she knows that Daniel has been there before.. in another time jump?

We do find out that Widmore has been funding all of Daniel's research!! Could it be MORE than just a possibility of getting back to the island.. could it be that Daniel is his son?

DANIEL"S MOTHER IS IN LA!! This FOR SURE confirms that the woman that ben went to see- and told him that he has 70 hours to get back, (who is also the woman from the jewelry store), is DANIEL"S MOTHER!!

Soooooooo.. last week's episode, "The Lie" named Mrs Hawking as Eloise Hawking...the same name as Daniel's rat. maybe she's also 'Ellie' in the 50's with Richard's crew? Here's the photo that Desmond found in Faraday's office.. with his mom?

This photo also looks as it could be "Theresa" with Daniel.. the woman who caused Daniel to leave after something happens to her..
The woman that Desmond went to visit's name is Theresa Spencer. The man who Desmond met in Faraday's old lab mentioned something along the lines of Daniel leaving after something happened to a poor girl, then he went to see Theresa.. so this must be the "girl" that something happens too...

It seemed from her "symptoms" that the woman we saw was locked in like a permanent "The Constant" style experience- mind displaced in time. Maybe that's why Widmore is paying for all of her medical expenses.. because the reseach he's funded has caused this to happen.. but I really think there is more to it!

OK.................................... SO WIDMORE is ON the ISLAND

OK.. he's working WITH Alpert as an OTHER!! SO................. When ben becomes the leader of the others, does he somehow oust Widmore as leader? Thus taking the island from him? It seems as though in 1954, Widmore is working for Richard... which is pre Ben for sure!! Richard kills all the US soliders ... HOW did the US military find the island?

COULD Widmore somehow be a part of Dharma.. maybe Widmore leaves the island, and creates Dharma to go back and tap into the island's powers.. and Richard is threatened by Dharma so he and ben kill everyone and take it back.. maybe THIS is why Widmore hates ben.. because Ben helped destroy Dharma and moved the island, so Widmore couldn't find it anymore. Ben says that Widmore wants to exploit the island.. use it's powers for his own.. We know that Dharma was studying the island's powers and was tapping into them...

Interesting that Richard knows ben AND widmore VERY well.. do we question his loyalties? Both of these men have turned out to be "others" Maybe That is why Ben could not kill Charles in his apartment. Isn't it illegal to kill a fellow Other ? Remember when Juliet was on trial for killing that bloke on the beach when she saved Kate and Sawyer.

I thought Richard was supposed to recognize the compass that Locke gave him? Did they jump so far back that Richard doesn't remember? Locke hasn't even been born yet.. is THIS why Richard goes to see locke being born.. because future locke tells him too... When Locke told Richard that JACOB told him what to do.. Richard knew Locke was for real.. RICHARD.. oh Richard.. do you Choose the leaders of the island.. how are you connected to Jacob? I thought the exchange between Locke and Juliette was interesting..
Locke: "Just how old is Richard?"
Juliette: "Old."
It's amazing HOW many connections Locke has.. Richard was there when he was born.. he did the test with him as a child (obviously THIS is why he wanted him to pick the compass..) AND after Locke was pushed out the window and survived.. ABBADON was his orderly..pushing him in the wheelchair and telling him how important he will be and he has a lot ahead of him....

LOST! is back!! Episodes one and two.. because you left and lie

OK..so for the past few seasons I've written synopsizes of each episode, with my ideas and the things I've caught, for my friends at phishposters.com. We have quite a discussion going over there.. so now that I have a blog, I figured I would repost it here for others to see. Feel free to comment and share your ideas! YAY!! Here's to the first show of 2009!!! Ok.. first of all, if you haven't seen this youtube video of the "lost footage" from comic-con, it's important to see it!! You hear Chang's name for the first time... talking about what happens, the "purge" you also hear DANIEL FARADAY's VOICE!! He's THERE!! So is it our future daniel back in time, or WAS DANIEL part of the original Dharma?!?!?! You also hear a baby crying, and Chang tells someone to take HIM outside!! I really think Miles is the son of Dr Chang (candle, wickman etc)

5x01, Becaues you Left; 5x02, The Lie

Well, it wouldn't be lost without the numbers appearing in the opening scene.. the clock clicked from 8:14 to 8:15 and the alarm goes off in Marvin Candle's house.. or is it Marvin Candle. Didn't they call him Dr. Chang? I loved the way you saw the reflection of his face in the record player when he was fixing the skip.. Interesting that he fixed a "skipping record" foreshadowing to Daniel's explination, or what will happen that day?

Shotgun Willie by Willie Nelson is the song Pierre Chang (Halliwax, wickmund, candle) plays on the record player at the beginning.
Shotgun Willie is a song that plays like a broken record. The first verse is repeated constantly, playing 3 times throughout the song. a constant repetition. the song only has 2 other verses.
5 verses total and 3 of the five is a repeated verse.
even in the second verse (below). the lines repeat. paralleling what's going on with the island perhaps? how the island is skipping like a broken record. they chose this song for a reason.
"you can't make a record if you aint got nothin to say.

Ben's meat ticket also had the numbers.. 342 as well as the area code for jacks phone number as shown on Kate's phone. It was also the price of mid-grade gas at the gas station when Hurley left and kate pulled in

Kate goes up to floor 31 to visit sun.. 15 plus 16.., also 3 plus 1 equals 4 Did you notice that Aaron really wanted to "push the button"! He said something like "Mommy I want to push the button! Let me push the button!".
Does anyone else think this might hold some significance? I don't think this line was just thrown in there for no reason. Maybe Aaron has an important role to play on the island in the future?

Mrs. Hawking- the lady from the Jewelry store to sold desmond the ring, and then explained to him the causality of time.. she's somehow in cahoots with ben? I guess that makes some sort of sense... She tells ben he has 70 hours until the event horizon..
70 hours. 4 + 8 + 16 + 42 = 70.
I also thought it was very interesting to see Ms. Hawking with the old computer as she was charting something. The computer screen read "Event Window Determined" and flashed a few points on a map of the earth. The location of these points is very interesting. There were 10 locations in all. Some of the important points to note are:
1: The point off the east coast of Africa (Eko's brothers plane)
2: 2 points close to Antarctica and one point off the coast of Russia, south of Alaska(polar bears...a stretch)
Could the "Event Window" be letting her know that this is when they will have an opportunity to get back on the island?
It seems as though she is using the Foucault Pendulum, here is a shot of it..

What is interesting to me is that it seems the Foucault Pendulum was used, by both the computer and Ms. Hawking, to find the island. So if the island is unstuck in spacetime, perhaps using this device can somehow locate the island using the rotation of the Earth? Whatever the case is, the physics is extremly complex and would have to be explained by someone with much expertise. ALso, since she is working on time travel, and Daniel tells Des to go find his mother who is working on time travel.. could Ms Hawking be Daniels mother? The island jumps before Daniel gets to say her name. Was the jewelry store that Des got penny's ring in Oxford? I think it was...

So this is the unbridaled energy that controls the island? Obviously the wheel has been there a LONG time.. the island was melting the drillbits to prevent the energy from being reached? We know the island can affect the mind.. like it did to the worker?

The RULES.. Dr Chang mentions the Rules of time travel that can't be broken.. Daniel also mentions "the rules" of time travel.
Ben says Widmore changed "the rules" when Keamy shot Alex. are these all the same rules? If so, Keamy and his team has been to the island before.. it happened before, and the first time, Alex didn't get shot or die. So, Daniel says that you can't change things.. as hard as you try, what happens will happen.. sort of like what Ms Hawking told Des about how time rights itself.. we saw that with Locke trying to climb up to the plane.. and gets shot and doesn't make it (cuz he has to find the plane and go up with boone) but if time prevents you from changing things.. HOW did Keamy shoot Alex?

Richard and Locke.. very interesting. first of all.. why are the LOSTIES (and our frieghter friends) moving and Richard and crew aren't? Richard gives Locke a compass.. When Richard comes to visit young Locke, he asks him if a compass means anything to him. Is Richard coming back in time to visit young Locke to see if he REMEMBERS the compass? Is time already skipping, so Richard was checking to see if that had happened yet?

Neil Frogurt guy? Another random extra that we've seen briefly.. hilarious that he was wearing a red shirt (which we know signals something) and then he's the first that got struck with the flaming arrow..

how ABOUT the flaming arrows!!! WHO are those people? We assume the losties are somepoint back in time, since their camp is still "unbuilt" but HOW far back in time? (I'm thinking we are back on the same day that the Nigerian plane crashed.. Locke was back at the recent plane crash after the third skip, and it seems the day continued from there BUT when Daniel is talking to Des, then we jump.. and the next scene is Des waking up from a dream, and Penny says he's been off the island for 3 years.. so we are back in Jack/Kate/Hurley time.. which is different than sawyer/Juliet/daniel time- it seems the oceanic 6 "present" is 3 years in the future of the folks back on the island.. they were still seeing the smoking freighter. The Oceanic 6 could be having "flash forwards" but we know that time passes differently off the island.. so maybe they have been gone 3 years, which feels like only hours on the island.. not including the skips in time) Anyway, Could these arrow throwing people be the aggressive hostiles that Dr Chang refers to, or are these early Dharma initative? The people who corner Sawyer and Juliet have on jumpsuits.. so maybe they are dharma.. They as Sawyer and Juliet, "what are you doing on OUR island?" So it makes sense they are Dharma and are "claiming" the island.. they are always talking about the "hostiles" and it seems that Dharma have guns.. so why would they be shooting flaming arrows? Maybe that's WHY the defense hatch is called the Arrow.. because the hostiles shoot flaming arrows?
OR what if the arrows are [b]from[/b] the Arrow station. Perhaps it is some sort of built defense mechanism that is triggered by movement. The attack started right after Bernard got the flash of fire...

Who is Jill, the butcher? She also knows about Ben's plan, and perhaps has a desire to return to the island? She seems to know about Locke and his signifance to the group and the island.

Desmond is special.. we know he's special with time stuff. I had to really figure out why, though, didn't desmond recognize Daniel when he knocked on the hatch door.. they had already worked together.. I figure the reason Desmond didn't recognize Daniel is because Desmond lived in a timeline where he never met Daniel. When he woke from his dream it was as if his consciousness was attached to a new timeline - one where Daniel DID talk to him - hence why he has this new memory. If Desmond ever goes back to the island now and see's Daniel he'll remember meeting him during his time in the hatch.

OK.. I have a strong theory about Hurley that has developed thru last season.. and now was solidifed with this episode. I think hurley is also special. I think he sees dead people.. sorta like miles.. but hurley can actually SEE them. Go back to the Mental instution.. his best friend "dave" We know, from Libby's flashbacks, she met Desmond randomly at a coffee shop. He joins her for coffee and they chat. He tells her about penny and the boat race her father is hosting and how he wants to join to win penny back. Libby tells desmond about her dead husband DAVID, and how he had a sailboat. She will never use it, and gives it to Desmond for his race.. which is how he gets to the island.. now.. back to hurley at santa rosa. Libby is there TOO!! What if hurley's "imaginary" friend Dave is really the ghost of Libby's husband David. Hurley can see him, so they interact. Dave reappears to Hurley on back the island-- when Hurley is getting friendly with Libby.. and Dave actually tries to get him to hurt himself by jumping off a cliff.. Maybe it's because Hurely is getting close to his wifey!! We know Hurley came upon the Cabin.. which was unexpected for Hurley AND the cabin!! Ben and Locke were SHOCKED when Hurley spoke of it. The cabin seems to be a place where the dead can manifest (Christain Shepard.. Claire) Maybe that's why hurley could see it.. because he can see the dead. Hurley sees and interacts with Charlie when they are back from the island.. and then, tonight, he saw Anna Lucia.. who acknowledged (like Charlie did) that she was indeed dead.. AND that libby said Hi!! I really think Hurley can see and talk to dead people!!

Charlotte.. what's happening to her? Could her body be out of sync with her mind? Maybe she was born on the island but experienced present-day time the rest of her life. That's why she her thoughts are hurting her and her body is experiencing physiological damage. She needs to find a constant to re-anchor her.

So when Daniel was at the orchid.. he walked there and saw random people and went in acting like a worker? he does have a tshirt on under his button down shirt.. OR was he actually THERE the first time around?

I'm trying to figure out why Richard and the other's are moving with the island.. and our losties are doing something else...
It seems as like there are two timelines..
Both our losties and the island are moving through time.

The island is moving in the island stream of time and the losties are moving in the non-island stream of time. The island, and everything of the island, went back in time. The losties stayed in their correct time.

The people left behind on the island are not anchored to either stream of time. They're the ones who are free-floating and bouncing around between the island time and the off-island time they are supposed to be in.

WOW.. it is SOOO good to get back to this!! I really thought last night was fantastic!! A lot of commericals.. but that's Lost! I'm really looking forward to what this season holds!!

Wow.. what a day!! I carded up ELEVEN sets of batts today.. each set being 2 batts each!! I carded and listed 5 before dinner.. three of them are inspired by Valentine's day, which is right around the corner..
Then after dinner, I got a second wind and carded everything you see there.. six more sets.. a new Purity set, a new and even more blingy Sweeny Todd set and a full size set of finger paints, along with a few new sets not seen in the shop before- blizzard with blue merino and tons of bling and silk noil, S'mores- with brown and white merino, tons of bling and pinches of bamboo.. and my fave of the bunch- Galaxy- black merino and bamboo with a touch of silver bamboo.. with TONS of silver lurex turbo bling, silver angelina, silver holosparkle angelina and silver firestar. It just SHINES like the clear winter sky!! All these, plus a few more I'd like to get done in the morning, will go into the shop tomorrow. I also plan on listing some handspuns and a few knit scarves!!

New Years Resolution.. to post more!!

Where have I been you ask?? Well.. we finally moved and got the house all set up!! I have my own craft room now HURRAH!!!!

I'm SOO excited to have my own space. And do you see that drum carder there!?!? That's right.. I'm now offering unique and fun filled fiber batts for spinning and felting! I'm thrilled to be offering the kinds of fiber blends that I love to spin!!

I also learned to KNIT!! I'm so excited!! I'm not doing anything too adventurous... mostly shawls, scarves and cowls.. but it's super fun!! I just finished my first triangle shawl. I corespun 16 loop babycakes into 4 yarns.. each yarn representing one of the 4 elements, and each yarn having 4 stripes (from 4 babycakes) I then knit a triangle shawl, from air to earth, fire then water. I just LOVE how it turned out and I can't wait to knit up some more!! I'll be offering more and more knit and crochet items in the shop as I finish them :)

Of course I've been doing lots of spinning!! I'm on a crazy corespinning kick right now and I've been just corespinning everything! I'm seriously hooked on mohair locks!! OH the curlies!! You'll be seeing LOTS of new stuff in the shop!!

Well.. all of that and I got MARRIED!! So hurrah!! I know this year is going to hold lots of fun stuff.. I can't wait!!

New Ravelry Group and Virtual Spin In

This weekend I participated in a "virtual spin in" on the novelty art yarn group over on ravelry. I got LOTS of yarn spun.. some to go up into the etsy shop this week!!!!
I spun up my april club batt from Loop.etsy.. this was my fave of the weekend.. and
definitly going into the personal stash..

I also spun up a few Loop.etsy babycakes, and added some beautiful chocolate bamboo and extra sparkle... also probally destined for the personal stash..

Then I spun my most labor intensive yarn yet.. the original fiber came from Lynn (yarn wench) She listened to some pink floyd and spun up 2 yarns.. Shine On and You Crazy Diamond.. In the theme of the original fiber, we watched the new DVD that Bryan brought home, of the Pink Floyd concert when the Berlin Wall fell (really COOL show) and I spun this really crazy yarn.. To the original pink floyd fiber from Lynn, I added locks from HollyEQQ, TONS of novelty yarns and NINE kinds of sparkles.. including purple tinsel and purple irridecent easter grass. This was the CRAZIEST spin.. but I love it!! This will go up on etsy this week..

HUGE Moving/Packing SALE and the Art Show was AWESOME!!

Last Sunday the art show I participated in went WONDERFULLY!!! It was an amazing day.. warm with a cool breeze.. perfect for spinning!! Lots of people asked questions.. especially kids.. and everyone thought it was "So Cool"
I did sell some yarn.. which is awesome.. except one sale was one of my FAVE skiens that I actually wanted to use in my own project.. but I had to let it go..

I'll miss you "Under the Sea" But I know you went to a good home!!

The rest of the day was wonderful. I did find out that garment racks make FANTASTIC yarn displays.. people can see and touch the yarn, without having to unskien everything.. and I could hang together the yarns I spun for like projects..

All in all, an amazing day.. and I can't wait to do it again in October!!

I'm participating in a virtual spin in this weekend on raverly.. so I plan on getting a TON of spinning done!! I started last night at midnight (because it was technially Saturday) and spun one bobbin that consists of 3 loop babycakes, some chocolate brown bamboo and 4 colors of extra angelina (purple iris, copper, gold and crystal amethyst) on top of what steph loaded into the baby batts.. and some sari silk (which was in one of the batts) I LOVE how it turned out.. and it's not even off the bobbin yet!!

WhirlWind in Chicago..

What a weekend!! We got LOTS of wedding stuff done.. Bryan picked out his wedding ring, we toured the hotel and tasted the food (mmm.. good food!!) We tasted and picked out the wedding cake (mmm.. GREAT cake!!) We had a meeting with the Judge who is officating the wedding.

We also took more than 500 "engagement" pictures with our amazing photographer. He is so incredibly talented.. getting the traditional "portraits" as well as the cool photojournalistic shots. We walked from Millennium park in the Loop, to the South Loop by Columbia College, back up to the North loop.. by the courthouses.. taking pictures all the way. We really managed to catch some real "chicago" shots.. with the "L" tracks casting shadows.. We also took some cool shots up on the NorthSide, when we had stopped at his studio on the way back to Mom's. We went into the alley outside his studio and took another bunch of totally "chicago" shots!! We found a dirty couch that was waiting to go to the dump and used that for a few.. and they turned out to be some of the best of the day. Totally worth sitting in the pigion shit!!

I really love all the pictures he took while we were in the Loop, at Millennium Park and in the Art Institute Gardens as well...

Of course Passover was wonderful.. and we got to see bunches of friends and family. We even got a Wii as a wedding present!! WOOT! I'll have to balance spinning time with bowling!!

There was a store update before I left, and I'll be adding more stuff this week. I'm the featured artist the first sunday in May in Pittsboro, so I'll keep everyone posted as I know more about that!!

Off to my wheel.. I went thru withdrawal this weekend!!

Sorry I've been MIA these past 10 days.. it's been a bit crazy at work and here at home..

First of all.. HURRAH KANSAS!!!!!!! It was great watching them beat UNC (sorry TarHeels) and a great game last night with them beating Memphis. YAY for college basketball being over for another year.. hurrah for getting my CSI back :) HA!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... This is totally amazing and freaking me out.. but I think we found a house. Well.. not I think.. we DID find a house and are putting an offer in tonight! OH MY GOD!! This is the biggest thing I have ever done.. yeah.. freaked out for sure!! It's a cute house.. a *bit* smaller than we were looking for.. but it totally works.. beautiful corner lot, with amazing landscaping.. beautiful azalia bushes in the front.. room for me to plant a garden.. even a big back deck for grilling.. I can't believe this is really happening.. yeah.. did I mention I'm freaking out a bit...

I have been spinning to manage my stress levels. Thank you NC Triangle team for featuring my Spring Chicken feather yarn in another treasury. You guys ROCK!!

I have been spinning some "personal stash" yarn.. hey.. I need some for myself too LOL!! I plan to crochet some great shawls for the fall.. I will have some summer fibers up soon.. they will also be VEGAN!! I have some wonderful bamboo.. and some hemp top too. That should be super fun. So I managed to get a decent amount of spinning done this week, inbetween the thank you notes I was writing. I'm pretty proud of myself.. I will have them all out by Monday :)

I plan on doing a store update tomorrow (sat evening) but it may get pushed back until Sunday.. here's a sneak peek of 3 of the 5 yarns going up this weekend..

I had a lot of fun being creative this week.. I guess I really went thru wheel withdrawal when I was in MN. The first I spun while I was watching this week's episode of America's Top Model.. ok.. yes.. I spin to crap TV.. but I don't really need to "watch" persay.. as I can just sorta listen and look up every once and a while and know what's going on.. anyway.. the girl I like was assigned to be a "Pop Princess" in her photo shoot this week.. she was wearing this shiny vinyl pink and black outfit with killer boots.. so it inspired the name of this yarn.. which is a mix of stuff in shades of pinks and greys and black.. Locks from Renae of TerraBellaSpun, batts from ArtClub, more locks from ArtClub. Angelina from Loop.. spun thick and thin and plied around a black rayon thread with beehives and coils and fun sparkley pink pom poms. There are 10 small pom poms and 4 larger ones.

I also spun up a fantastic Loop Spontaneous Spinning batt in shades of light blue and white with TONS of sparkle!! It's spun thick and thin and plied with a metallic silver thread with beehives and coils. It's called Carolina On My Mind

This last yarn is made from loose shetland lamb locks. Spinning with loose locks gives the yarn a lot of amazing texture. You are also really in control of where the colors are placed. I love this yarn!! It's a part of the EtsyFAST april challenge- Storms, as well as the ravelry fiber friday, Rainforest. It's called Tropical Storms
The blue sky right after it storms.. and fuscias like the bold flowers in the rainforest.. I added some angelina for sparkle.. like the raindrops still sparkling on the green foilage and the beautiful flowers. I love how it turned out. There's also an amazing halo around this yarn.. which I wasn't able to catch really well..

I have to work tomorrow during the day.. but I may felt up some beads tonight...

Jazzturtle

I love handspun yarn! Just looking at it makes me go ooooh! As a result, I have just ordered a drop spindle and roving from ebay, the roving arrived today, but no spindle yet! So alas, I must wait a few more days!

If you can't spin but love handspun yarn to, I suggest you check out Jazzturtles shop, for a lovely selection. I esp like this colour, which is plied with gold thread for a bit of sparkle.

Art yarn makes me go even more "ooohy" than regular handspun, and this great flower version would look wonderful as a scarf or bag!

As well as yarn, she also sells jewellery made from felt, and felt beads so you can make your own. The last time I tried to make felt beds..it was disastrous, so I am glad that you can buy them! She even has some patchwork clothes too, what a talented lady!

What a fun (and snowy) weekend!! The Wedding festivites begin..

Wow.. we are really getting married. This past weekend we were in Minneapolis for a wedding shower that my step mom, her sister and my dad threw for us. Our first bit of wedding festivities...

First of all.. it started snowing the moment we arrived in Minneapolis.. and kept snowing and snowing and snowing until we left on Sunday afternoon.. I don't think Bryan had ever seen it snow for 72 hours straight.. it was really pretty.. but I for sure didn't bring the right shoes for that!! It's spring here in NC!

Other than the snow.. and the hard fall I had when I slipped on my butt.. it was an amazing weekend. My mom flew up from Chicago.. which was also amazing, since Chicago got hit with the same snowstorm MN did.. and Mom's plane was the only one that made it out on Friday!! My brother and his fantastic girlfriend came, along with some good family friends and family.

We played the shower game that creates "wedding dresses" out of toilet and tissue paper.. but the models were Dad, my friend Mark, my uncle and my Step bro, Brandon. They looked fantstic.. and we couldn't choose a winner because they were all so wonderful!!

Of course there were some wonderful presents. I can't thank everyone enough!! I'm so excited for matching towels!!

Shanan and his fantastic girlfriend Jess gave Bryan and I tickets to join them Sat night for the Mike Doughty show. It was such a good time!! It was at First Avenue, which is Prince's club. Bryan had never been there and he LOVES Mike Doughty, and has seen him in concerts for at least 10 years.. back to the days of Soul Coughing. Mike did a lot of songs from his new album.. but played some old Soul Coughing too.. which Bryan says he rarely does. It was a really fun night, and we can't thank Jess and Shanan enough for the tickets.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend. We got home on Sunday afternoon and I dove for my spinning wheel. I had such withdrawal. I spun up 2 fantastic skeins.. one with the softest loose shetland lambie locks, and one with a blue and purple sparkely batt from Funky Carolina that I spun with a sparkley blue thread candy striped around the single. I will post some sneak peek pics later, and they should be up on etsy by tomorrow. Also, any orders made will now go out promptly :)

I can't thank everyone enough for the fantastic weekend. It's crazy.. the wedding is now in less than 5 months.. but it feels like just yesterday that Bryan proposed. I have SO much to do before the big day.. and there are still 2 more "mom" showers and another one that some girlfriends are throwing.. So much fun yet to be had! I can't wait!! Now I'm off to write some thank you notes!!

April Showers and May Flowers.. Store Update before I go!!

So last night I was able to spin up my Feb Zen String fiber club installment. It was the softest and fluffiest merino I have ever laid my hands on!! I was inspired by Carissa's(Treadle to the Metal) Flower yarn, so I pulled out my flowers from my scrapbook stash and found I had the perfect flowers for the fiber. I gathered all my supplies (including some gold angelina for some sparkle and gold metallic thread for plying) and sat down and watched Ghost Hunters while I spun this amazing yarn!!

I used 3 oz for the May flowers, and then I took the last 2 oz and spun a really lofty and squooshy, soft spun/ low twist single. They will look fantastic worked into a project together! I'm really starting to love spinning low twist yarns.. they are so lofty!!

I have listed them on etsy.. though it's going to be hard to say goodbye..

I also finished up a couple of fun coil necklaces that I made from a batt by the fantastic Ms. Lexi Boeger of PluckyFluff. I will try to get them listed today as well...

They are really fun.. I even made one for myself!!

OK.. I really have to go pack so we can be off to our first wedding shower weekend.. Yay Presents!! LOL!!

Copper Pennies off the bobbin!!

What an amazing spin!! Really.. just incredible!! The sequins were so much fun.. and the shredded money was just crazy!! The yarn is SOO sparkley and full of texture! I think I will crochet this into a pashmina size shawl with some really soft medium brown corrie I got from Copper Moose. I'll use that for the edges and fringe, and I'll use Copper Pennies for the middle and a bit of fringe as well. Steph is so fantastic.. I can't wait for April!!

I am going to start my Feb Zen String fiber (Fern Gully )tonight.
I'm planning on spinning it thick and thin and I will ply it with gold thread and pretty silk flowers. I may not get it finished before we leave tomorrow evening for Minneapolis.. but I'm sure going to try!! I'll be away from my wheel for the entire weekend.. I may go thru withdrawl.. so I should get as much done before I go as I can!

This weekend is our first wedding shower. It's being thrown by my step mom and her sisters in Minneapolis. We are pretty excited.. who doesn't love presents.. and it does make all this weddding stuff very real. I mean it's always been real.. and even more so when I got my dress.. and then when we signed the contracts for the location and the vendors.. but now with showers starting.. it's really starting to happen.. Woot!! I'll have to balance spinning time with thank you notes :)

I'm not sure I'll have time to update the store before I go, but any orders made from today on will be mailed out next week :)

So I was at some friends the other night and you WON'T believe what they pulled out of the freezer for dessert.. I thought I was going to die!! Girl Scout Cookie Tagalong Ice Cream. No really.. Tagalongs are my most favorite thing EVER.. and in an ice cream?!? We almost stopped at midnight on the way home.. but I was able to wait until the next day.. and then I ran over to that store.. as fast as my little car could drive me.. and the angels sang on me that day...

I ate a big bowl and spun up half of my Loop March batt, which I've named Copper Pennies..

Life with Kittens...

Tapeworms.. All I wanted to do was spin today and I had to deal with tapeworms.. An early morning emergency vet visit.. and $150 dollars later.. I have healthy kittens.. with a bout of tapeworm.. which isn't that big of a deal.. So with a big sigh of relief I can sit down and do some spinning.

I will have an etsy store update today with 2 yarns and some felt bead goodness!
